Should I wait...?
Sounds like some people are messing up the terms of these things a little.
TCS- Traction control system, measures wheel speed in the rear wheels. It will activate when you say launch a little to hard, and get some wheel spin. It will do nothing for you if you are hydroplaining, or if you get a little sideways in a corner.
VDC- Vehicle dynamic control, measures the wheel speed between all the tires, more so measuring the differences in the front tires, and the rear. It also has a Yaw sensor, which it uses in conjunction with the wheel speed. It will help you if you get a little sideways and you didnt want to. It will apply the brakes and usually shut off the throttle to try and straighten the car out.
Both can be shut off, and will have no effect on your aggresive driving if you dont want them to. If you are going to buy a base model, that also means you are going to get an open differential. For racing, this is not the most ideal thing.
You should absolutely wait until you find the car that you really want. Im glad I waited and landed a Touring w/nav. for less then I was going to pay for a performance. Im glad I didnt make that mistake!

FYI,
Performance Nissan has one PPW '06 Grand Touring w/6sp man tranny left. I was offered that car for $30,500 + fees. I was also offered any 06 enthusiast with a MSRP of $31,455 for $25,500. I found 2 06 enthusiast 6 spds with MSRP's of $30,455 and they were $24,500. Again, plus fees. The two enth 6 speeds were DB and Silver.
Just trying to help.

The vast majority of these replys are basically screaming at you to get what you want and are supporting 'your' decission to go above the base model. The longer you have the car, the longer you will wish you followed your initial feelings on this. Your car is out there. You just have to find it. For my driving conditions and style, I would have been foolish to go base, but obviously there are good reasons for some to choose the base model.
