Default '07 Tire Pressure Display?

Well after almost a year of forum watching I finally got a '07 CS last night.

In any event I was reading through the manual and searched online but found no answer to my question.

What happened to the option of viewing the pressures in each tire? If it indeed is gone, why would Nissan spend time to eliminate this option?
If in fact I suck at reading the owners manual and it's still there than how can it be accessed.

It's gone. Nissan did away with the actual PSI numbering for each tire. You should have something now that just tells you if the tires are high or low. It's the same with the G35 coupes since 2005

It does show the tire pressure in each wheel...you just have to toggle thru to fronts and rears, its the bottom botton on the side of the instruments.

Nope, that was pre-2007. The 2007 owners got screwed out of the pressure value display, they only get the warning when the pressure gets too low.

Well that is worthless. A warning light to tell you that you have a huge problem and need to pull over, rather than being able to view small leaks and fix the problem before it becomes a huge issue.

I will never understand some of the routes Nissan takes.

Anyway to get around this problem? Software hack?

No - the warning tells you that your pressure is 25% below the recommended value. If you have a huge problem (i.e. flat), you're going to find out about it soon enough, TPMS or not. Yeah, it's nice to be able to see the pressure and notice a leak but obviously Nissan decided it wasn't that necessary.

I suspect there is a limited amount of features that can be programmed into the system, to save memory space, they may have had to drop that ability to make room for something else.

WOW! That just plain sucks if you ask me. Not that we can't just get out with a gauge and measure it, but that they removed a feature. Normally you add features. They can easily add memory space to the ECU if that was really a problem, which I am sure they have done many times.

They probably decided to add more cupholders at the cost of the TPMS.

Now, if they had replaced it with a boost gauge, then they would have something.

I don't know how true this is but I heard somewhere, maybe from this forum, that one of the reason Nissan did away with the actual PSI reading is because people were complaining that it wasn't acurate. Because of this and maybe along with others such as cost they decided to play it safe and did away with the feature. Saying your tire is 25% below is a lot safer from a legal point of view then giving the actual reading when $h_t hits the fan.

That's plausible too. I have heard a few people complain about the values not reading correctly. If it was really a widespread problem, they might have seen it as a way to reduce warranty service visits. I guess I'm lucky in that mine have always been very accurate.

I have been lucky as well because my TPS has always been pretty much on point. That sucks about the 07's though.

Mine is always spot on! I even-out my tires with a digital pressure guage, and when I get in the cockpit my car's guages reflect the pressure precisely, exactly, and with zero error!

This is a sad, sad day. It makes me not wanna play anymore, but rather just take my toys and go home. But Nissan has the coolest toys, so I guess I'll hang around.

Too bad about the change. I think it's handy to be able to look at individual tire pressures. Even if nobody knows which is left or right. And no, I haven't bled air out of one of them yet to see which is left or right. If anyone has, do tell.

I switched from my winter set to my summer stock wheels/tires recently, and it felt very different. I cycled thru the tire pressures and saw that everything was within a pound of where it should be. It's a handy feature to have.

The bottom number are for the left side, the top for the right. That's not 100% true though as some of the early cars had them swapped.

I think for some people who are complaining about the feature not working properly it's because they're too impatient to wait for it to work. I know everytime I regulate the air pressure I have wait a bit before the gauge reads the changes.

Ugly hood plus no individual TPMS.
