read up on basic driving dynamics (ie weight transfer) and techniques (brake in a straight line, feed steering angle, then feed throttle) before going to an HPDE or instructor. it'll make the track time more worthwhile.
dynamics is the same for both FWD and RWD. only difference is that you power-understeer in a FWD and power-oversteer in a RWD.

there are common performance driving skills that somebody can learn in any car. A good driver is a good driver, it shouldnt take them long to adjust to any cars individual quirks.
