I would think for that $40 grand mark up on the Cobra you would kill the Z on the times.

Exactly the kind of car I wanted- no frills and no wild amenities, just solid performnace for the track days.
Exactly. I didn't mention it got 3rd place because of their reasoning....it only lost out because of "interior materials" and seating/storage space - none of which should matter at all. You should buy a sports car for it being a sports car - and the Z performed the best out of the 4.

It was just a Shelby Stang GT, not the Cobra/GT500. The one in the article had 319hp.

What BS by the magazines. I remember late last year they put the '07 G35 sedan up against the new 330ci. The G35 beat the bimmer in every performance category. However, they gave the intangible awards to the the bimmer and it won the face off. BS.

Are there any stats for things other than going straight? Because, you know, some of us like to do other things. Like turn.

Wow, that's pretty fast in the quarter. I just ran my Z for the first time at the track (I'm definitely not a very good drag racer) but after about 6 runs the fastest I could get was 14.05 at 99.87 MPH.

Yea sad part is, the Z and the Shelby came in dead last. RX8 1st, Z 3rd, Shelby 4th, Audi 2nd.

I have a Z (stock) and drove a Shelby GT with corsa exhaust and the mustang felt a hell of a lot quicker than my Z. IDK Whats ford claim for the stock 0-60 on the Shelby GT? I thought it was 4.6

V8 and TQ will make it feel faster. But the weight kills it.

Put down the crack pipe, fastest time on rx8 forums stock is 14.5 @ 95mph, its a sticky.

13.7 doesnt impress me for all the new power of the Z, the 104mph trap does. I was running 13.7 stock over 3 years ago, but at a measly 101mph. As you guys know who visit the drag forums put a driver in an 07' and low 13's are easy.

Did they mention which Z trim model was tested. 0-60 time was not bad. I was hoping for a time of 5 flat. Oh well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe CandDriver or MT tested a 07 g35 sedan with a matching 0-60 of 5.2. However, 1/4 mile time on it was 13.9.
I'll double check this 0-60 time because it could have been 5.3 to 60mph.

rear seat space? wtf? that's humurous. I dont think there even enough room back there to properly fit a baby seat.
The RX-8 is a great driving car. I was at mazda's ride and drive and it feels super balanced. After driving that, I got in a miata and thought I was a superstar (and since the miata is supposed to be so great)and understeered into the cones and dragged one of the cones back to the start area. They gave me a warning hehe.

Car and Driver has employed some of the worst drivers ever.

They can trap 104 and not break a 13.7. Pathetic for so called professionals. I'm sure a well driven Z will also run 0-60 in the high 4's.

Oh well, at least they didn't run 14's.
