Never, ever believe a dealer or its reps.

It's BS, disregard. In this market segment, they are bringing in MORE than enough to fill demand.

30,000 / yr.

By comparison-
Honda S2000 - 7,500 / yr.
Toyota MR2 Spyder - 5,000 / yr.

They are BSing you....I read an article about how the Z had broken sales records in the "sports car" catergory because Nissan sold over 10,000 of them in North America (the US and Canada) between Aug 1st and Dec 31st, even with most having a healthy mark-up during a recession.

Don't know what the situation is in your area, but I drove by the Nissan dealer near Dulles Town Center in Northern Virginia this week and they had at least 10 new Z's on the lot. The idea that this is a limited production car is not real credible.

the dealer has at least 7 Zs in the lot.
I think the dealer just tried to make me buy the Z quickly. I am not in hurry to buy a Z anyway, just curious "the limited # of Z nissan makes per year" from the dealer. The Z is hot and sold out quickly but there are not limited # of Z per year. Nissan will make as many as the market needed...

The 350Z followed a predictable pattern that happens with special interest cars. The first ones off the production line are snapped up quickly. Often, dealers try to add to the price, etc. in an effort to allocate the product in a profitable way. For example, this dealer with the 10 Z's still added a $600 add on sticker to their Track model because it is presumably more special than other Z's. I would be interested to know what that car sells for- I doubt that it will be over sticker. Eventually, supply catches up to the initial surge of demand and buyers and sellers will negotiate hard and end up at a price somewhere close to dealer invoice. I think we are close to that point already. And, if you happen to want a Murano, I think you could get a heck of a deal on one of those. There must be 30 of them on the lot. They have them all over the place. I hope they start to sell well, or Nissan will have a problem on their hands. (I assume that based on the strong inventories they are not selling well, but that could be wrong...) Either way, it is a good time to buy a Z. (Unless you want a convertable, in which case, you are back at the first phase where dealers try to gouge....) Good luck.
