gotta love those early morning outings in flip flops. still kinda sleepy, and first gear can kick your *** but it'll wake you up too.

Makes modding a ***** since any more power renders first useless.

hmm... first gear seems fine to me. But I have also been driving a manual since I was 16. I can adapt to any car just fine without jerking the car.

Exactly.

I have factory Z06 clutch and if I do anything but slip the clutch it's just brutal.

Umm. Maybe it's not the gear? I've drove in harsh rain and never had to abuse the clutch to keep it under control.

I didnt like the shortness of it either but feathering the clutch works fine for me. Its a short gear with a quick wind up to a slow speed what do you expect. and Third in Nissans is Def the TORQUE. I drove my freinds 07 TL-S yesterday it is not a bad car at all its pretty quick and their problem is second gear lol rather a bad first than a bad second

I like first for going down the spiral drive at my works parking garage, otherwise it is a little short. I often start in second if there is any kind of decline from a stop.

Yep I usually start in second if I am on a decline or rolling through a stop/turn. Like everyone else said 1st gear is kinda short, then there is that rough shift into 2nd to deal with. I really enjoy 2nd gear on this car, but 3rd is probably favorite. Starting out in second is ok if I engage the clutch properly, but then you deal with the car just kind of bogging until 2.5k RPM or so (keep in mind I have the rev-up engine to my low end probably isn't as good).
