kelvin,

Whassup. I lived my first 8 years of my life in Malaysia. Having seen traffic there, the only reason why you would want the manual is because you want to race the car or because you are a sports car purist. Otherwise, I would go for the Automatic.

As far as color goes, I would go with Blue. More exotic. Silver is a safe choice too - you'll be one out maybe a handful of people with Zs so I wouldn't worry about color exclusivity. But blue is by far more eyecatching.

I'm not sure about whether tariff laws in Malaysia has changed or not, but for some people's information: Buying a car in that region, especially an imported one, is major $$$. Just as an example, there was a time when a Toyota Camry would cost 200,000 ringgits (or just about 60K USD). So a Z... omg... I cringe to think what kind of money that would be. For those who wonder how people afford cars... Well, Malaysia actually has it's own auto manufacturer. It's called Proton. They make a line of cars for the 'people'. Combined with the country's ridiculous tariffs, you have yourself a monopoly. If the name Proton sounds familiar, it's because they recently bought Lotus (of Esprit fame).

Anyway, kelvin you are very fortunate to have one in MY. Whatever color/transmission you choose, congrats.

thanks Ganz..

It cost around 330k++ over here in Malaysia. Its a lot, but at least the performance and looks are in the region of Porchse... that is why i think its worth it.

I am still trying to find a blue imported one.... so that i can get the car quick.

currently, I know Malaysia has 3 on the street and 2 still in the show room.

I am sure after 1 or 2 years, we will see a lot of them in Malaysia as there would be more second hand Z cars.

Default 350Z is made for 6-speed

This car is made for the six-speed tranny.

I currently drive an Audi S4. A local dealership loaned me a 350Z for the weekend. I was impressed. It's more fun than my Audi, mostly because it handles better (0-60 is about the same and in some instances I prefer the turbo).

But one thing I have noticed is that the 350Z requires higher RPM do have fun than the S4. So, IMO, you need the manual tranny to achieve those higher RPM levels and make the car do what you want. Automatic would be...well, it wouldn't make much sense, IMO.

Question:
Struggling between Auto or Manual. Heard that Auto has teptronic and it serve the purpose too. U see, I do race but not hardcore racing so not doing any special stun or something. But I do would like to have the control of which gear i am in. Does Auto steptronic can do that well?

Updates:
Changing my mind to either Blue or Red. Since there is non here, i plan to just purchase the Silver one and Repaint it. Any comments?

Consider this... do you plan on owning this car for several years?? If so, get the color you absolutely are most drawn to. What is another 3 months wait if you have already been eyeing the car for a while and plan to own it for some time. Just my opinion. -MK

Unless your in an area with lots of stop & go traffic, I'd go with the manny tranny.

automatic lets you select what gear you want.

PERSONALLY I have trouble with it, I recently tried it on a mazda 6 while autocrossing, using its auto tranny with tiptronic.

I found it impossible to sense what gear I was in, Id lose track, did I upshift? am I in 3rd, or 2nd? ect.

in manual, you can feel what gear your in without looking down at the dash for the gear indicator. perhaps with time you could learn to remember what gear your in.

anyway, I have manual, I like manual, Ive used it in traffic, eh, the least I could do is work out my leg a little bit, since the rest of me gets no excercise.

6-spd is the only way to go for a sports car!

also the most popular colors are both silvers and blue, acording to my dealer

there has to be one color that just pops out at you right?
