damn, glad you walked away -- 55mph head-on is like hitting a wall at close to 100mph if you were going the same speed as him. Yet the driver compartment is barely deformed. I'm extremely impressed with the Z's structure...

Sweet Jesus, looks like the Fairlady protected you. 55mph head on is pretty nasty, considering you were probably doing about the same so thats actually over 100mph collision.

Glad to see your ok and that your sticking with the Z. You shouldn't have trouble getting some sort of settlement unless the person is dirt poor. In any case, they should be in jail and off the road for a few years.

Wow, what a wreck. On the drivers side too. That is incredible to see that you went basically unhurt. I dont have a z, but a few months ago, my BMW was wrecked, by an immigrant with no license or regristration, but the car had minimum insurance. My insurance totaled my car and I got a good payout from uninsured motorist coverage. That coverage is really good, because there are so many uninsured people causing wrecks, and without the coverage, you get shafted bigtime. It is good, because your insurance company is pretty easy to deal with, especially if you have a good one. Much easier than trying to get the other company to pay. You have a much better chance of getting paid what you deserve if you let your company battle for you. Hope everything turns out for the best.

man oh man, that looks so bad. i'm glad you're alright! the z seems to do an incredible job protecting the driver... but of course only the people who were able to walk away are able to post on the boards about it.
do you remember which of your airbags went off? pics?

Glad to hear that you walked away from that. Was this near the track or close to home or somewhere in between? I also live in Exton so I'm just curious if it happened nearby.

See you around in your new Z!

My Z only had front air bags, none in the seats or the curtains. But both sides did go off.

I was just sent this link after discussing my accident with Kelly...

Glad you're OK!

I have to say that the Z probably holds up better in an accident better than anything I've ever seen. Your damage seems somewhat similar to mine, however, my impact was on the other side and was more of a side impact. Regardless, the Z's cabin held up intact and really protects the passengers - kudos to Nissan for such a good design. While I had extra safety equipment (roll bar), I didn't have to use it, although I'm glad it was there.

Good luck in your recovery - best of wishes in your future endeavors....

Your accident and pictures remind me of what happened to my sister a year and a half ago. She was also hit head on by a drunk driver. She had her three daughters in the minivan too. The idiot that hit her had to be airlifted to a hospital in Fresno. My sister had to be taken up there by ambulance. Her injuries had to be first looked at and then stabilized at our local ER before she could go up. My three nieces were beat up. All three of them had cuts and bruises, but thank god no broken bones. My sister on the other hand had a severely broken pelvis. When the impact first occurred her left femur was pushed up and through her pelvis causing one large hole. Then it went the opposite direction causing another large hole. She was in the hospital for close to two months and then had to undergo rehab for another couple of months after that learning to walk again. She is much better now but she will never be the same again. Oh, and she is a nurse and is back at work helping to save lives again.
