Another noob thinkin about buying a 350Z
Hey guys,
I'm leaning heavily towards a 350Z over a G35... and I'm looking to buy used... from my understanding, the 2005 Z is when the feathering problem stops becoming as pronounced?
I'm looking at getting an Enthusiast model, as I have given up on finding a decently priced Z with the factory navi... as far as the navi goes, do you guys have any experience with aftermarket navigation systems in the location of the factory one, or even installing a factory navi afterwards? I have an A4 and a lot of guys install the factory navi system afterwards.
Sorry for all the noob questions, but just trying to be an educated buyer.
Oh and I'm looking to spend around 18-22k.

Obviously the newer you go the better of you'd be tire-wise. Some 05's still had the issue but you're more likely to encounter it with an older Z. But aftermarket tires help....the stock tires are terrible.
Most people seem to go with aftermarket DVD setups instead of NAV systems. Putting the OEM NAV into a non-nav Z is problematic and not just a plug-and-play process like most other cars. So you'd have to go with some other brand which I'm sure any Best Buy or whoever could do no problem. It's just the factory NAV install which isn't something you should pursue if it's not already in the car.

Lol... road maps are troublesome... I can never fold them back into place... thanks for the suggestions... I'm thinking about an 05 350Z enthusiast, and yeah it's looking like aftermarket navi setup in the cubby hole. Thanks for all the info

Road maps save weight over their electronic counterparts.

lol, if the weight of a nav system actually makes a difference in our cars performance then...
my 03 performance DB Z, lightly modded, is for sale.
I want nothing to do with a car that cant handle 10-20lbs extra and not handle as it did before
Those portable car navigation units are cheaper and extremely fancy nowadays as well and very easy to mount/remove on the windshield. In addition, you could use the same unit in rental cars when out of town etc. – just an idea.

I keep it off mostly. I used it a couple of times, when I couldn't find a decent restaurant nearby with the POI system on my other car.
Wow...maybe it's just Seattle but for the price rang you want (18k to 22k) you're going to have a TOUGH time finding even an 03 in good shape and decent (30k) mileage - much less an 05. Am I going crazy or what? I have never seen an 05 for 22k with clean title and in decent shape (not mint, just decent)
Other then that goodluck, you'll enjoy the Z much more. I drove my sister's 05 A4 (was actually gonna buy the same one) and decided that there is no way I'll ever like the A4. It looks decent for a sedan but I can't get use to the "sport" sedan type haha
