Test drove a Z today...
I hope this is in the right forum, but I just wanted to share some feelings on the Z I drove today. It's a black/black touring that I've been looking at for quite some time, and I may purchase it very, very shortly. I finally test drove it today, and man...fantastic machine. It's not even a car - it really is a machine.
The salesman took me on a pretty cool road across twisties, some bumpy roads, and a merger. I was extremely impressed. A road like that would've been such a chore to drive in the Maxima, but the Z made it fun. The transmission shifted smoothly, and even the sport shift flicked each gear effortlessly (save the tomatoes and boos =P).
A lot of people have been saying that the car is way too small/uncomfortable...I didn't feel that way at all. I'm 6'1 and it felt fantastic. Of course, I'm also not the type of person who reclines in my car as if my seat was a frigin' Laz-E-Boy. I drive with my seat at a 110-degree angle, with my wrist-line reaching the wheel when my arms are extended (something I learned at BMW Driving School in South Carolina).
I wasn't very bothered with the blindspot -- not at all, actually. Once I had my mirrors positioned properly, I felt as if I was driving my very own car. I couldn't believe how great the experience was...it really felt as if I've driven the Z hundreds of times before. A truly sensational vehicle. Everything from the low-end, to the handling, to the high-end jolt and everything between.
I can't wait to have this thing parked in my garage already.

It's nice driving a car that actually handles well. I'm currently driving a 91 honda civic 5-speed w/ 185k miles on it (primarily due to its great gas milage, 35-38 mpg). I test drove a touring auto, fell in love with it and immediatly ordered an smb grand touring coupe. after driving a stick forever now with working in the washington dc area and driving 90 miles/day minimum to/from work, i'm getting an auto too. it's just too hard shifting, talking on the cell phone, smoking and steering while trying to drink my morning coffee. i guess i'm just getting lazy in my old age. just sucks that i have to wait till july or august before it will get here.

Hehe, yeah. I guess you can say I've been researching the car this whole time to make sure it really was right for me and lurking the forum educating myself as much as possible. No one likes an annoying forum noob.
Gooey: Yep, that's exactly the plan. I see no point for the Maxima anymore.

No problems with comfort in the Z right from the beginning. Just the opposite. I was prepared for the "cramped" seating of a sports car that you frequently hear about and was surprised at how comfortable it was.
get the manual. youll regret it on weekends or when you're tryin to have some fun...plus they have better resale value since, id guess 85% of people who want a sports car also wants a stick
Cozmo: I've contemplated it, but it just isn't for me. I've driven stick a few times in my cousin's car, and it was really annoying because of all the traffic. Plus, I was driving an 01 Civic too, and those cars have reaaallly easy clutches and gearboxes.
