Go get a turbo diesel, all the hicks here in Edmonton love them, Some guy ran like a 10.xx (something in the tens..) with his turbo diesel, on the dyno he actually pinned the torque at something like 2000 lbs.

Go turbo diesel.. But I'm thinking those are expensive to mod also and they probably don't handle that well

good luck to you...you should have researched your stuff before you bought the Z.

buy a corvette if you want a fast car, reliable, daily driver, but stock..lol...

the thing with F/I is if you do it right the first time it will be reliable enough for daily driving....ive done it...twice.

They don't realize how expensive modding the Z is, especially FI.

I don't get it. I mean going from a sports car to a 4 x 4 truck. Sounds like there is more to it than this.

You know what I'd do. Buy one of these + 2K in mods gets you 450HP.

and use the $10K left over for a down on a house.

My 2005 Redline only has 21000 miles on it. Borla TD, MD spacer, and Injen intake. Not enough for me. I need 400+hp but also want a reliable daily driver. I dont see it happening.
So, can you tell us why you need 400+hp? Do you track your Z? I take mine to an auto-x 1-2 times a month and my NA Z will usually beat a Lotus, an M3, STis, RX-8s, and occassionally a Z06. An NA Z has plenty of torque & hp for the track, let alone for daily driving. Unfortunately, most owners will never realize the full potential of an NA Z before they jump into FI. Oh BTW, I also have a GMC full-size pickup. Why not get a used pickup and enjoy the best of both worlds?

I wanted to go procharger or greddy twin turbo this car but Im to scared. All I see are posts that I blew my motor, or my cars out of commission for 3-6 weeks while I save 10k for a built block. I dont want to blow another one.....crap like that. I dont need that, hell I dont even own a house yet.

If you can convince me otherwise feel free. Im probaly going to go buy the 2006 truck this weekend or next.

Dude buy a twin turbo supra 93-98 find a maual transmission, and you can easily run up to 1000hp on stock internals!!! What other cars can do that? Screw Ferraris, Lambos and any other cars the Supra is a true BEAST!

if you're trading in a Z for a pickup there is no amount of convincing anyone can do. get what you want. obviously the Z is not for you, regardless if you can afford 400hp.

That would be really cool. Are they reliable at 1000HP? It still would be in the $30-40K Zone on a ten year old car. But, I like the idea !!!!

More than you can afford .... Lol !!!!

So since you have done it twice, does that mean you did it wrong the first time?

You bought the Z for modding, and are now just realizing how much it costs to add F/I? You "need" a 400+hp daily driver? You're selling it for a truck?

Sell the car. Buy a beater mustang/camaro/240sx/supra/blah blah...for dirt. Explore the less expensive side of modding while saving to buy a damn house....or you can purchase an interfooler and pretend your Z is a boosted.
