Default Shifting

Just curious as to how all of you with manuals shift when coming to a stop. Some put it in neutral and coast to the light or stop. Some downshift through the gears.

What do you do ???

The owners manual suggests putting the car into N when at a stop so the clutch doesnt get glazed over before engaging into 1st. And i down shift too but using the brakes is proabably a better idea.

I definitely agree with smartparts, new pads are a hell of alot cheaper than a new tranny...the longer your car is neutral the less wear and tear you put on your tranny Personally I drop it into N until I come to a stop.

Turn the wheels, and hit the brakes. Come to a stop with the car perpendicular to the roadway. That's what I do.

hahah. Neutral is fine, like the manual says, less wear on clutch.
