Default Help! What would you do?

Hey everyone! I've been pretty quiet on this board, soaking up all the information I can get. I'm ready to buy my Z and I had a question that hopefully some of you could guide me on:

My situation is I have found a SS touring fully loaded and I believe the dealer is willing to take $1200.00 off MSRP. My only hitch is the car has 40 miles on it. To some, that's not a big deal, but it is for me. I could look past it I guess I'm sure assuming I get a good deal. I'm confident I can get the car for 36k. Reading about what others have paid makes me nervous actually. Perhaps $1200.00 off msrp isn't as good a deal as I thought originally. I'm still looking at a total price of 39k w/ tax, etc... In you opinion, is this too much to pay? I have waited six months to buy this car and now I'm ready, but.....

But, should at this point I just order the car from the factory and wait the two-three months (I'm told 65 days for my area) and get an 04 at full MSRP, or take the 03 @ $1200.00 off msrp? I'm thinking the resale on the 04 will help some eventually when I do decide to sell the car. I'm wayyyyy ahead of myself here, but I like to think long term too. My other concern is that I have not been given a straight answer as to when the 04's will arrive. Some dealers say June/July (based on the roadster) and some have said August or later. Why can't I get a straight answer??

Please help with my decision! Thanks in advance!

Tell them you'll take the '03 SS for an additional $800 off MSRP bringing it to $2,000 off. The milage isn't *that* big of a deal, but it's definitely worth $800 IMO.

The '04 Coupe's won't be out until late summer.

Why does it have 40 miles on it? Did it get to the dealer that way? The reason I ask is that I've heard some Z's are pulled out and road tested before delivery , but I don't know that for a fact. Or, maybe they were put on with demo drives, each tester revving it up on a cold engine. Well, anyway - it will still be under warranty however the miles got there. Probably not much to worry about if you get a sizeable discount.

I would not worry about the 40 miles,

The car will be fine. Change the oil when you get it, and it will be good as new.

Inspect the car, for scratches and damage, however.

Dont worry about resale value, remember a car is not an investment.

You will not lose 30% of this particular car's value when you drive it off the lot, however you will lose about 10%.

The resale value of the Z cars is generally pretty good, as evidenced on Ebay.

The 2004 Z's should not have any major or moderate changes. One need only look at the topless for hints of modifications.

There are none, save for the seats. It would make little sense for Nissan to introduce a redesigned Z in 2004, as many topless orders will still be in the process of being filled.

The miles are from test drives apparently, so they say. I can't really worry about it I guess, I'll go for the good deal prob. in this case.

labshark7--I hear ya, I certainly know it's not an investment. I just thought the difference between waiting a few more months for an 04, I would make out a bit better when I do decide to sell it. I realize it's not much and it probably all evens out anyway because I would then be paying full msrp for the 04.

I'm just trying for the best deal is all. Appreciate the comments!

While I picked up my car with 13 miles on it, 2 other friends had 36 & 48 miles on there cars.. They had no problem with the mileage.. I know everyone wants a car with as little miles as possable, but it really dosn't make a difference.. You'll be enjoying yourself tacking on many, many more miles.. If you get a good deal don't wait.. take it.. You have no idea how much fun your missing..

Steve (k2we) Dobbs Ferry, NY 7381 miles since Sept 17th....

Where is this??? If I were you I would go for it. I'm looking too, so if you don't want it, let me know where it is. Even if you do get it, let me know where it is. Good luck.

dude.... come on... 40 miles is nearly nothing and you know it. and dont complain, because you are getting over a grand off msrp for something so minimal its almost meaningless.

I wouldn't worry about 40 miles at all.

$1200 off of MSRP is a pretty good deal - I'd jump on that one if I were you. Here, they're telling us that the 2004's will be out in September.

Some of the 350Z's are road tested by Nissan before they ever arrive at the dealer. This may be one of those.

Default Miles on the new Z

I just picked up my new Z Saturday. However, I had my dealer do a dealer exchange for me since they didn't have a performance model on the lot. I live in PA, they found me one in NY. I asked how they were going to get it back to my local dealer. The told me, we'll have someone drive it here...

NOPE, not for me. I told them I would go pick it up myself. So, they had me go to my local dealer and drive a Z up to NY, pick up MY Z, bring it back, then they detailed it and I took delivery.

I checked the milage on the Z I took up to NY. 217 miles when I took it off the lot, 342 now it's in NY. MY Z had 72 on it in NY, 207 now that I drove it back to PA.

I was concerned about the milage, but the dealer gave me a 60month / 75000 mile Nissan Gold extended warranty at cost.

I'm glad I got my Z. I'm going to drive it til the wheels fall off. (I use it as a daily driver, and my commute ONE WAY to work is 85 miles)

IMHO..thinking of a car, at least one that we plan on driving, as something with 4 wheels and an engine..covered with $$$ signs... totally takes the enjoyment out of it. I figure if I drive it for 4 or 5 yrs. and get absolutely zero out of it when I'm done. We're even.

Default I can't believe what's parked in the garage!?!

First off, I really appreciate the feedback! It helped make my decision easier. I decided to go for the deal and so I bought my Z today! The mileage really wasn't a big deal afterall, and the car is absolutely amazing!!!

The alignment is a bit off, so hoepfully it's not a big deal. Did anyone else have this problem when you bought your z? I hope I don't have any of the tire feathering issues.

mistabruin-- I bought my Z at the Rancho Santa Margarita Superior Nissan. The service was excellent, very smooth transaction! If you know what you want, ask for Rovena in fleet sales and she will take care of you. Tell her John sent you! Good luck and let me know how it goes if you get your Z!!
