Default WTF? new car, diff color bumper?!

i just picked my Chrome Silver Z up...30600 fully loaded enthusiast out the door.

the strange thing is...the bumpers (front & rear) and the side skirts are different color from the rest of the car!! those parts have a slightly more blue-ish tint to them, whereas the rest of the car has an amber-ish tint.

is this just mine or do you guys have Chrome Silver Z's that look like this?? to me, there's a definite diff in color tint...

i checked some images of chrome silver on this forum and noticed that some other ones have that too!

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=28375

if you look at the garage shots, the rear bumper looks like a different color--has a more blue-ish tint, no?

what's going on??

i'm going in tomorrow to get it checked up by the dealer...btw, the dealer was really pleasant to deal with...but i wonder if there's somethign wrong with my Z--like they crashed it and had the bumpers repainted..that'd be ****ed up

I have a Daytona blue 350z and my front bumper looks a bit different (very little difference) but only when you look at a certain angle. If the car is in the shade you can't notice but when in direct sunlight (standing in front of the car) the bumper looks a bit lighter then the hood and quarter panels, but when you walk closer to the car you can't notice it anymore. I think it just might be how the sun reflects off the metallic paint on the plastic vs. the metal at different angels.

I definetly notice a difference on my DB from the body to the gas cap, haven't noticed a difference on the rest of the car though

Alot has to do with the fact the bumpers, splash guards & gas door are not metal. It seems the paint may look different than the paint on the metal body. Only when you look at certain angles. The bumpers on my Chrom Silver touring look almost perfect. The gas door is a bit different..

It's pretty well known about Daytona Blues and the plastic parts looking slightly off. I have really sensitive eyes, and honestly can hardly notice in most light levels. I have not seen or heard of anyone with these problems on a chrome silver though.

I previously had a 240SX (Pearl White) that was the same way. I took it to the dealer and a couple other paint places and they told me it was from some agent they put in the paint on plastic parts to make it flexible so it doesn't crack if it bends. I was going to get a Pikes Peak Z but I was worried the bumpers wouldn't match so I bought a Super Black so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

When I had my Kaminari kit installed on my Daytona Blue, the painted new parts matched the metal part of the car. It looked really weird, with a darker area of metal, then a plastic area that was lighter, and then the new aero pieces dark like the metal. I had the body shop paint the front and rear bumpers, and the gas cap, and now everything matches.

In certain lights, angles, etc the plastic and sheetmetal parts on my CS look a little different. If you look close I think the metallic flake sizes are also slighly different. It's not blatantly obvious, only during the right combination of circumstances. BTW, my bros pewter C5 'vette had the same thing going on…under certain conditions.

I just scanned the thread above and some of those CS mismatches are truly horrendous!!

Looks okay fine in this piccy.
