Come on guys, don't give him a hard time :-p. He's a fellow future Z'er/G35'er.

Anyway, for the 2009 model, they're probably going to be changing the Z, so it won't be a 350z anymore. You'll probably want to wait until the finalized specs are released on that before you make your decision. Plus, you have 2 years. That's quite a long time to decide what you're gonna get, so you shouldn't be looking for any kind of "definite" decisions yet.

As far as the "safety" of the car... well, as long as you get the side airbags, you should be alright . Drive the car carefully and keep your guard up 100% of the time in the rain and you shouldn't have any trouble. It might also be wise to invest in a performance driving program (I always recommend this because *I* did it and it helped me out *TONS*). Performance driving experience + *NOT* screwing around while driving = nearly absolute safety, all on its own. Also, don't drink and drive . A cab is cheaper than having to buy a new car because you totalled it, hospital expenses, possible permanent damage done to your body inflicting more costs later on in life, and/or hefty fines.

I think that's pretty much it... good luck on your decision

Edit:

Oh yeah, and get a stick-shift! Its WAY more fun.

I just like givin' ppl a hard time....dont sweat me kid. the Z is a great car, but for beginners like you should drive something else. Ppl your age aren't ready for a car w/that kind of power. even w/the proper training, you still need time to really understand what to do. I went in stages as far as power goes...from a 95 camry to a '00 civic si to a RSX-S to a Subaru WRX (modded) then to my current car..... But thats my opinion, take it anyway you like it man.

good luck to ya.

"One of the vehicles deemed least safe, i.e., most deadly by the Insurance Institute is the Nissan 350Z."

(This answers your question. Now post pictures of the lamborghini in the garage beside the Camry hybrid)
