You don't. The term "chip" is an outdated term that used to refer to cars built prior to 1996. You were able to actually remove a chip and insert a new one but with the advent of the OBDII system in 1996 you are no longer able to remove any chips.

Your car has an ECU with built in ROM memory. The only way to change the program on the ECU is to flash a new one to the memory through the OBDII port. So, in other words, you either have to pull the entire ECU and send it off to be reflashed which means you are without a car until it is reinstalled or you go to a shop and have them access the ECU with an OBDII cable and flash the ECU while it is installed in the car. This is also how dyno tuning is done through the same port. They access the A/F ratio and timing to create a new custom map for your car then the map is flashed to the ECU.

The rev limiter is programmed into the ECU and can be changed with a new flash but I would highly suggest that you not "over accelerate" to 8k and dump the clutch unless you really hate your tranny and want to build a new one for some reason.

LOL at this thread. Have fun "over-accelerating" the hell out of the engine.

Quit spreading rumors and myths!

Everyone in "the know" knows the 350Z has a performance hindering / rev limiting chip riveted to one of the engine mounts. By you posting what you did, you'll cause the OP to get confused even more than he is.

How about trying to help him out some?

What you're looking for is the VTEC chip. Nissan added them in '99, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I was able to overboost mine and get a kickin' launch from a roll.

There is a white/blue wire pair going to your left front speaker if you take the driver's door panel off and look. If you cut that you will find that the DCC (Dynamic Control Chip) will override and you'll be able to launch the car in first.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.
