The film(s) sucked ***. Butchered the book like no other. I'd rather watch Tarkovsky's take on "Piknik na Obochine" that that idiocy. But the book is awesome. Lukyanenko has some really good books that are as entertaining as some pieces by the Strugatskiy bros.
P.S. I hope you were not googling that chit at work...
As a video engineer I think the films were great. Some of the best Russian produced work. Now as all movies there is no way they can be compared to the actual book.

The special effects were almost on par with the western counterparts, although it would have been better if a Z was driving on the wall of "Cosmos", but I am a huge fan on the books, so I expected much more in that respect...
And LOR and "Chronicles of Narnia" did not mess up the books' plot...
Anyway, my shift is over, so I'm going home. We'll continue this somethimes.
Spokoinoy nochi.
