This is not a thread of manual vs. auto.

Just for the records - an auto Z will have almost identical times (in a straight line) as a manual Z. So stop flaming the OP.

OP - get whatever you want for your car

don't ask us what you should do, if it makes you happy, go for it.

Aw, no more sibling rivalry? Oh, well. Anyways, what scares me is that I actually was thinking about using a leather shift boot on my 5AT.

Why not just leave it in drive? You have an auto, and its programmed to shift at the optimal points for maximum acceleration at WOT from the factory. You can't do it quicker or more precise than that, so why slow yourself down?

And on a more serious note, a shift light is a popular drag racing accessory. Here is an example above.

Some people like to use manual mode around curves and such.. its not so hard to beleive, maybe hes not talking about just driving in a straight line, i dont see why its so hard to understand it would help when in manual mode. Thats the only time i use manual mode really is when going around curvy areas or if i wanna hear my exhaust.

Why did they put manual mode then? Obviously to use it when you want.

I'm almost always in manual mode...the only time this would be true is if you floored it from a dead stop and didn't let go. When driving around its nice to be in the gear you want and be able to upshift or downshift, to stay in gear without the computer intervening.

You might ask...then why did I get an auto? Lol..good question. I didn't really have a choice, my color was #1 priority and I never even saw an MT in my searches. However I'm not afraid to admit- I do like it much, much more than I thought I would. Its nice to not have to deal with gears in traffic (which is everywhere around me). And its nice in general to not always have to use a second foot...shifting is the same concept, just clutchless.

Keep telling yourself that.

Keep trying to justifiy it as much as you want, but no one will take you seriously.

Ahh, I guess it would make things a little more fun in the corners I'm in agreement here, I guess I just assumed you were talking about straight line acceleration. I could see the benefit of an auto z from time to time, considering I commute during rush hour in Houston every day. I got love for all Zs, 6 speed and auto.

Same here it all depends on a persons needs and taste i probably would of swooped up a 6speed but theres too many headaches. With nissan and their clutches that they cant seem to get right.
