Getting a 350Z...what do I need to know?
Hey guys I have an 03 maxima 6mt right now and Im thinking of trading it in. I have gone through two engines already b/c of the stupid oil burn problem and Im sick and tired of it. I wanted a Z even before I got the maxima so now I have no excuse not to get one. But I have a few questions:
1- I know that the third gear grind problems were common in the Z but what years experienced this?
2- Is oil-burning common too? If so, in which years was this fixed? Why the hell cant Nissan use better quality piston rings?!?
3- Does the Z have precats? Would headers or a ypipe get rid of them? I want no precats...they cause too many problems when they go bad. What company makes GOOD quality headers for the z?
4- What would be a good year Z to get to avoid problems mentioned above?
thats about it..thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

heh. Mine burns oil, tranny grinds every now and again because of clutch fk, cost me a ****eload of cash in all types of parts and repairs and there is no way i couldn't be happier. Z ownership isn't a hobby, it's a lifestyle.
