Question Is it worth it?

I just got my '07 Magnetic Black Z and want to know if it's worth it invest in a clear bra. The concept seems dorky, but at the same time I don't want the car getting raggedy. And does it live up to its' boastings and name?

Help.

mine has one from the previous owner...virtually no (paint) chips anywhere to be seen where the clearbra is. the clearbra itself will get scratched/marred over time, however.

choices are:

1. do nothing and live with the chips
2. clearbra for $400-$600
3. repaint affected areas for $xxx after X years

Front, Front side fenders and Mirrors.

Rear is useless in my opinion - One little rear fendor bender and it will need to be replaced costing $$$ anyway.. Clear bra was meant to prevent rock chips it will not help with contact with the ground or other accidents that scrape/scratch/flex the plastic bumpers.

Thanks, I guess now I have to find someone reputable to do it and not rip me off just because I'm a girl.

Is the $400-600 reasonable?

If you plan to replace your front bumper for an aftermarket part, then clearbra is not worth it. I thought about gettin' it and I decided not to. About a year later I got my front bumper scuffed up, and so I was glad I didn't invest in a clearbra. Now, I really don't have that many chips/scratches. Unless you know you live in an area where you feel you get lots of rock chips ...then it might be a good buy.

I have the front, side mirrors, and headlights done. It's really helped to prevent any chips or scratches, even though the plastic film does get scratches and marks. At least you know it's not on your paint.

So now the questions are... What's a reputable place in Dallas, TX? And what's a reasonable price?

one other thing is (if it comes down to $$$$)...i would pay to protect painted metal before plastic, so definitely go with it on the hood first. then worry about bumpers, mirrors, etc.

good luck and enjoy!

I have it on my 07 Carbon Silver. I didn't know if how I would like it at 1st, But let me tell you, It's great at protecting the front end from rocks and as an added bonus bugs rub right off. I would def recommend it!

Definitely get it; well worth every penny, especially on dark colors. The latest 3M film is now thinner than it used to be. When installed by a skilled installer, it will barely be visible and that too, only when someone looks for it. Just be sure to keep the edge clean of dust and wax etc to make it blend in even more.

I wouldn't do it, Nat. What's the point of keeping the paint from chipping if having a bra on it doesn't look as good in the first place? That's my opinion, anyway! I think I'll IM you now, because you're that cool.

Default Doesnt Seem Worth it.

Im still considering throwing out that kinda cash to put a clear bra on my front bumper when I get my Z.

Im back and forth about it but it doesnt seem practical.

Chances are a rock will hit whatever area you didnt put a clear bra on, plus its hard to get a quality job done and your clear bra will be noticable to anyone standing 5 feet from your car.

Sense im getting a Black Z im Extremely tempted to put it atleast on the front bumper though. But with my luck and how low the Z rides... a rock will hit the side and chip the paint

Do it! I've had a clear bra for 3 years on my 04 DB Z with no problems. And no one has ever noticed it, I have to point it out to them. I got the clear plastic covers over my head lights also.
