read the frickin link. that is from nissan themselves. basically it says they can do what they want to because the r-tuned parts are for off road use only and may void your warranty. i did not make that up, Nissan did. now who is stupid?

And as I see it...
Nismo R-Tune is NOT covered under warranty and VOIDS warranty.
Nismo S-Tune IS covered under warranty and does NOT void warranty.

R-Tune = Race-Tune
S-Tune = Street-Tune

This make sense???

Vader007 is correct. R-Tune parts are not covered by warranty. The use of R-Tuned parts in no way affects the warranty status of any other parts on the car. The only way Nissan can refuse warranty service is if the R-tune or other aftermarket part causes a failure of some other part that would have normally been covered.

That being said, all the speculation in this thread is useless. The OP needs to find out from the dealer exactly why the warranty is being voided, i.e. the headers damaged the cats, O2 sensors, etc. and that caused the car to go into limp mode.

Before everybody starts raggin on Nissan for refusing to honor warranty coverage, you need to know all the details. The typical knee-jerk reaction here is predictable but a big waste of time.

Finally a sensible post.. All you other guys

You think cause you installed R-Tune headers and your diff blows out in 20miles your entire warranty is void? You guys skipped common sense in grade school?

Sue them. One of my dad's bussies bought a M5 and modified it heavily. After the engine blew he took it in. They have to prove in court that the headers broke the engine.

You guys are missing the part where - if they do prove the part caused the failure, they get to bill you for ALL the time they racked up in diagnosing that and proving it. Know that fighting them is a gamble before you start throwing the "act" around. My friend got burned bad on that (over 4k) because he lost the battle....

Default take them to court

I know no less than 3 people that successfully sued and won compensation for this exact same thing. ALL the dealerships fold when you send the letter to sue. I would seriously hire a lawyer, they know you will win. Headers don't cause the engine to fail.

Sounds like a bit of bad luck there.
I have NISMO Headers, NISMO CAI, NISMO Catback Exhaust. My dealership said they honor my car bumper to bumper, and are doing it. I have the extended 100,000 mile warranty and currently a total of 13,640 something miles on my car. I have, like many others had the minor little things, motor to window driver's side, a rearview mirror problem, the recall of the tank hose thing. Never had any feathering though, but while I was at my dealership one day the service rep told me if I wanted he would have a new set up tires put on for me, even though I didn't have any problem, and I did it just because it was free. So I think it's more up to how good a dealership you have to work with. I really enjoy mine, no complaints at all. Any little thing, they just put on new for me, no questions asked. I love it. Mine is a 2003 Track Model by the way.

The OP first needs to find out what caused the engine to overheat. He stated his warranty ran out 900 miles ago and that there is still a parts warranty on the engine from when it was replaced. Chances are that the engine itself did not cause the car to overheat, which in that case the car would be out of warranty anyway and therefore it wouldn't matter if the a/m parts caused the problem or not. Diagnose first then let us know.

The headers are fine. davidc81 does not want new headers.

Dont waste your time debating anything. Your just going to give yourself a headache. Go to a Lawyer and bring them to court. No need in you going back and fourth. Thats what there for.

ok so i found out that the problem with my car was a faulty radiator. its not covered by drive train warranty and my bumper to bumper has expired. Nissan wants to charge me $800 for a new radiator and install. i think i'll buy a used radiator and do it myself.

At least you were able to narrow it down to something that makes sense.
