Default Type-R or Type-S

Okay, Entertain me for a second.

I tried searching the forums, but wasn't able to figure this out. What is the difference between Type-R tuning and Type-S tuning?

I heard this in reference when talking about the factory production Nismo is R tuned and the prior nismo was S tuned. Could someone explain the differences for these for me? I remember reading it with regard to putting the racing Type S nismo lines on the factory Nismo, which is R tuned. I think I got it right... Sorry if I got anything wrong here, I don't understand the concepts at all.

Type "S" parts are for street use. Type "R" parts are for race/off-road use. Type "S" parts have a warranty, usually 3 years if installed on a new car by the dealer, 1 year if installed after. Type "R" parts have no warranty.

The USDM factory 'Nismo Z' is not R-tuned. It has the same clutch, VLSD, headers, and intake as the regular 350Z.

S-Tune includes suspension and exhaust.

R-Tune is everything else.

No, R-Tune parts are treated like any other aftermarket parts. They only "void" the warranty of the OEM part they replaced. If you replace the OEM oil cooler with the NISMO oil cooler, you have no warranty on your oill cooler and that all. Now, if the oil cooler springs a leak and the engine burns up, then your Nissan warranty won't cover the engine damage because it was caused by a non-warrantied part.
