Default Cold weather= fast car

Man i live in Austin Texas so i'm not use to my car running extremely strong because of the humidity and the hot weather. Well this thursday morning i get off of work and its like 50 degrees outside so i give it a go to see how the car feels in the cold weather man its like a whole new car so much more powerful. The last time i went out to the track i ran a 14.1 in my auto with a 2.3 60ft on a un prepped track i'm sure in this type of weather i would hit 13,s no wonder some of you guys are in the 13,s. Here in austin on a hot day you will be lucky to hit low 14,s its like a 100 degress out just about every day usually.

350z-noob yeah hit me up whenever you come down to Austin man. Well we usually don't see 50 degrees a cold front came in last night and cooled things off a bit for comparison the day before was 80 degress lol. Austin's weather can be very weird at times.

I've read "I think on this broad" that for every 8 degrees in temp decrease the VQ will put out an extra HP. Don’t know if it’s true or not. I guess it would as well depend on humidity and air density.

I know what you mean though, I live in Florida and the temp has dipped down into the 50's "that’s pretty cold in Florida for November; must be that global warming " on some nights. Don't know about over all power, but I definitely notice my car feeling quite a bit more responsive.

I've noticed a difference in power because usually in 2nd gear my tires will get a little bit of wheels and then grip and take off. In this cold weather 2nd gear throws my back end straight out and also feels faster for sure and yes the tires are warmed up i know someone was going to say its because the tires weren't warmed up or something along those lines.

I have an auto but it runs really strong im my opinion i go to this track near me its a slow track but ive raced alot of 06-07 gt mustangs i know they are suppose to be faster but i always get them have not lost to one yet. Maybe they aren't that great of drivers i don't know anyhow the car feels stronger for sure.

Cold air = more power = worse gas mileage

I know I am going to get kicked for this but whatever. For your car to drop 1/2 sec in the 1/4 mile takes a lot of cold air. Your motor will always run in a certain temp range, so the air your sucking in yes is colder but once it hits the plenium its warmed a lot. Most track runners in the 1/4 will cool there motor then anything before a race more then figuring the air temp. You also have to figure out the exhaust temp as well. Some other factors are how well the air is coming in, you want that tornado effect going in and leaving the motor. The more efficaint that is the better you will be. In anycase there is more that goes into in then cold air. In any temp a Z should run in the 13's no matter what. If not look at your time slip for leaving the line for reaction time and then look into how well you did going down the track. So if you leave the line perfect but spin you will have horrible #'s going down the track. The 1/4 mile is more driver then car especially when you have a high HP motor like the Z and controlling that power

But it is worth the smile on my face....cold air is more dense and therefore the cylinders are able to hold more and get more performance. The price of gas is relative, to the smile on my face.

Yea winter
