The only great thing to come out of this is... Thankfully that "Moron U-boat Captian" didnt hurt or kill any innocent bystanders.
"Investigators have not yet determined whether speeding played a role in the accident, but Gregorio was driving fast enough to break through an aluminum guard rail, skid across about 75 feet of grass and land on the far end of the 50-foot wide canal, Santangelo said."
LOL Wonder what else could it have been?

I saw this thing on the local news this morning and had no idea it was a Z. Thought to myself, damn, cleared how much distance?
As for young people driving, how do any of you know how another person will behave behind the wheel at 18? I know for myself at 24 i have to fight myself to stay under the speed limit, especially when i'm being boxed in. Maybe some 18 yr people are more mature.....maybe.

I am indeed a discraceful a-hole, but after youve seen dead bodies from people speeding/racing/DUI where the speeder lives but others die, sometimes, it would be better off without those people behind the wheel again.
as someone said it before, if he didnt lose his leg and arm, he wont learn, why do you think there are so many hibitual DUI drivers out there with 5+ convictions.

1. Don't act like 100% of you guys haven't done something stupid and juvenile in a car at one point in your life.
2. Speeding is dangerous and the street is no place for it. He was being what he is, an 18 year old.
3. FYI, 45mph is 66ft per second. Assuming there might have been a 5' bank above the water surface, physics says it would have taken approximately .56 seconds to touch water from falling 5'. In .56 seconds, you can travel 37' at just 45mph. Sliding and making it to the other side of the canal doesn't really equal TONS of speed. Going through a barrier before that probably does. (Just making sure we understand that going through a barrier was probably more of an indication of speed than through 75' of grass and almost to the other side of a 50' canal)
Carry on...
Glad he's alright, and hopefully he'll learn from his mistake.

What are the chances of that? He is one lucky kid.
I can vouch that no 17 year old should have a car that fast. I know that I would either crash it or get a speeding ticket so severe, I wouldnt be driving for years.
