Default Took the Z through Deals Gap (aka Tail of the Dragon) this Weekend

So i went to visit my grandparents over the Thanksgiving break near Asheville, NC. I bought the Z about 1 week after Z Day, so unfortunately i missed the festivities. I really wanted to go through Deals Gap so on the way back i went through it. It was really awesome, especially because it was a ghost town. There was not a soul around. I was able to really rip on it, I think i saw 1 car the entire time. Enjoy some pics!

A pic taken just a few miles away from the Gap.

Before anyone says anything, I had running shoes on and they got pretty excited for the camera.

Deals Gap from the navigation point of view. Crappy pic due to my girlfriend taking it as i was ripping through a turn it looks like.

One with the GF, she made herself comfy (house slippers) to make up for the stiff ride in the Z.

Random Happiness! This is the AWWWWLLLL picture.

I thought this made a nice pic!

Very nice. Looks like you had fun! Too bad when I lived in NC during grad school in '03, I had a 12 year old Maxima

I love the twisties and enjoy them a lot here in Colorado.

And that lake looks to be running a little low on water.

Yeah, got plenty of it in during the summer since my Z is stored in winters anyway. Discovered several new routes this year; Poudre Canyon Hwy (Hwy 14 from Ft. Collins to Walden) is a very good one; no cops and very few cars; 63 miles of pure twisty bliss!

I will have to give it a try. I drive to Granby alot, mostly I-70 and US 40 around Berthoud Pass. I also tried out Trail Ridge Road also a fun road. My aunt got married at Powderhorn SE of Grand Junction. I of course drove on I-70 most of the way, Glennwood Canyon, but the small highway to get to powderhorn was very twisted and fun.

You got lucky!

From what i hear ya can't go over the speed limit anywhere, because of all the police camping on the shoulder of the road at every turn! I guess i'm going next thanksgiving seeing as all the cops are eating turkey

Cheers

Kevin

After Thanksgiving the season closes and like the OP said it is a ghost town. I am not even sure the store and restaurant where he took the picture is open every day.

I like those wheels a lot! What kind of suspension do you have? Looks like fun!
