Exclamation Asap Help!!!

My cousin is at the dealership right now and is looking at a 06 and 03. He might get one right now. So 06 has oil consumption problems right? The 03 has 48k miles on it and is a touring. He currently has a 07 si is thinking about trading it in. I believe they told him they would do a str8 up trade for the si and the 06 z. Now the question is how much should he offer for the 03 touring with nav with 48k miles on it? one more question, i heard some things about transmission issues, which years have this problem? Sorry if this is in the wrong section or off topic but i need some answers now.

Lol, the flames are coming, i can feel the heat. Get the 06, less problems, many say better engine.

I find it funny how you gave 0% details on the 06 or what your friend is looking for. if the 06 is base then it will lack some things that come standard in the 03 touring.

As for price to offer on the 03, you obviously have access to the internet, try www.kbb.com . It will give you an idea of where to start negotiating..good luck

i told him the 06's have oil burning problems so we stopped talking about it and focused more on the 03. I just found a thread on how the 03-04 have tranny problems. So the 05's have no problems as well as the 07+?

Unless that 07 Si is paid off (doubtful), it is NEVER a good deal to trade in a car that new with a ton of payments left (unless you have the means to pay it off and get the title immediately but that again is doubtful).

Tranny problems 03/04. Check the inservice date on the 03 and see if it still falls under the 5Year/60K Warranty to get the tranny replaced. GL.
06 has oil issues, but it's under warranty, so it's kind of a wash. No resolution I know of yet though.

also, the 03/04 have the tire feathering issues as well.

i own a 06 and havent had any problems with it. i would say go with the 06 or 07 would be even better.

oh, and the 06 has the worst dipstick design known to man. haha

I just got off the phone with him and they wanna give him $20k for his si and they would let the z go for like $14k i think and they said they would give it to him for $15k with a 100,000 mile warranty on it. Sounds like a good deal to me. And this is for the 03 touring with nav and with 48k miles.

Get the '06. You don't have to deal with the expired warranty, and if it burns oil they're replacing engines anyway.

damn z's have some serious issues. I dont know if a z is the best choice for a daily driver for a 19-20 year old.

typically its not. The insurance, tires and gas are pretty pricey for a lot of 20 year olds.

Most sports cars have some issues to be honest. Its the nature of a company trying to get as much power at a certain price point. Some are worse than others but really the 350 overall is pretty tough given what it is.

At this point, I would go with the 06. Its still under warranty so if it does burn oil then he can get it replaced although it will be a hassle.

Well I would find an 07 in reality but given the choice of a 03 or 06 I would go 06

I guarantee you that you are getting reamed on that trade in. Even though your brother paid it off, it doesn't mean that because he's trading "even" that he's getting what the trade is worth. They wouldn't be so eager to make that deal unless they are making a good deal of money somewhere. Good luck.
