I wish Oregon had the same gun laws as Texas. In fact, I wish the whole country had Texas' gun laws - imagine the lower crime rate.

No kidding. But then people would also abuse quite a bit... Imagine inviting someone you really don't like to your house, shooting them in your front yard and claiming that they were trying to break in or something...

Why, so you can be arrested for brandishing a weapon or something worse? They're not in your house and if you shoot an unarmed person, you have more to worry about than his friends coming back for you.

The gung-ho bit sounds good on the net, but can get you killed or in a lot of trouble in real life.

If we were allowed to shoot the criminals maybe fewer of them would be breaking into cars. Criminals love gun control it makes their job safer...

Sorry to hear this. I would have to at least fire off a warning shot at them. Then call the cops.

Cops are worthless. Had 2 cars broken into they come out and take a statement thats it they go back and give out speeding tickets. They probably never ran the prints I think they do this so they can pretend its CSI.

Maybe you should read the definition of "brandishing"

Every person who, except in self-defense, in the presence of
any other person, draws or exhibits any firearm, whether loaded or
unloaded, in a rude, angry, or threatening manner, or who in any
manner, unlawfully uses a firearm.

If you got it holstered your cool, in account that your are in adherence with other regulations.

Nothing in the car worth stealing. Couple auto meter gauges in the trunk and a CD case. that's it. I went to the Nissan dealership to get a repair estimate, they said 2 G's to fix the ride.

If that happened in Texas. He would not be held liable for shooting them both dead while they are breaking into his car. If he got them in the back while they were running away then maybe......but you can just dragem closer to your front door

too bad most of us don't live in Texas...but certainly have considered..

but for the rest of us, there's nothing wrong with an AR15 slung around one's shoulders. you may not prevent current robbery but you'll certainly avoid future attempts from same guys against your car,...worst inside your house.

If I was the robber, I'd certainly avoid the guy with the gun versus ones without. Who knows what these Z owners will do...

You have apparently never lived in the Ghetto. That is how things get done. Before I moved out, You had a loaded gun and made sure your alarm was always on.

Sorry it happened...my house was busted into recently and a lot was stolen.

I live in california, a state with notoriously strict gun laws. My friend's dad has a license to carry concealed handgun...he was told, by the DA of his area, as well as a sheriff, in as few words as possible, shoot to kill. As morbid and messed up as that sounds, that's how it works...unless you want someone coming back with a greasy lawyer trying to sue you for damages and injury.

Could get charged with assault with a deadly weapon or attempted murder, not that I think the US justice system works; I actually think it sucks.
