ok so i'm getting an '08 Z for xmas and do not know what to get. My dad said money is a little tight and may only get the base model but i wanted input to see if it's even worth the base model since there is no cruise, bose radio, leather, and so on. anyone own an 08?

Also i was wonderin about tire feathering on 08. yes i've read the 100 Q's (which is extremely helpful, thank you!) but i just need some peace at mind.

any input is welcome

Black on Black 6MT is what im sure of for now.

07 enthusiast might not be a bad idea for you. I do not know of tire feathering on an 08..Actually I thought it was solved on 05up?

BTW, you're lucky I was in a good mood today

Get a left over or used 07 if YOU feel you need the extra stuff. IMO its worth it just for cruise, my LSD is being replaced anyhow.

I got a Base; if you like to buy everything for your car it's probably the best model. You won't really miss the LSD for daily driving, and you can choose whatever head unit you want should u decide to go aftermarket

with a base model the only thing you cant add is the cc. if your going to mod your will most likely replace the blows headunit and the lsd and maybe the seats later on down the line. they fixed the tire feathering in the 04.5 models. if cc is worth it to you get the 07 enthus if not then get the 08 base.

dude, dont get a Z. It's very inconvient.
Go with something for practical....like G or new bmw 3 series.

If you dont see this, you'll see it after 3 months owning the car.

Id get an 07 enthusiast if i were you...

you could probably get it for the same price as an 08 base since they want to get rid of the 07 models.

Plus everything else is exactly teh same.

Call me crazy but if I knew my Dad was tight for $ I would No Way accept a 08 car!
Why not get a used low miles 06-07 or is this not good enough for you?

Not to piddle on anyone's shoes, but they "said" they fixed the feathering problems. I've got an '05 Touring and I had MAJOR feathering. One dealer I went to said, "Oh, that's covered in the '03 and '04, but not in your '05". The problem still existed beyond '04.
Don't freak about the feathering. Even if it does happen, it's more irritating than anything. Just do what I did and turn up the radio!

don't ASSuME anything. to be frank, i wanted a 2006 G35 w/ 16k miles on it because it was way tighter than a Z AND cheaper. Truth is, my dad doesn't want to finance on a used car. So how about you stop judging me? I'm not a spoiled little kid. In fact, i was driving a 1988 Buick Century with 160k miles and a 1994 Astro Van with 180k miles on it. If you like, i can even post pictures of them. I drove those AWESOME (sarcasm) cars from the age of 17 until now. Let me tell you, this wasn't embarrassing at all parking next to peoples BMW's at school.

One the feathering issue, i guess it's just part of owning a Z

I hear you man. I'm happy for you getting a new Z. Personally I think you father is making a very good move. Buying new for a couple of 1000 more saves you sooooooo many headaches in the long run, and I personally believe no one takes the same care of a car as you would, especially when they know they are going to trade it in.

My dad has a G35x thats lease is comming up. I usually turn of the VDC and whip around corners constantly redlining the thing in the manual mode. I feel terrible for the person who is going to get that, thinking they got a great deal because it was "comming off a lease" even with all that "certified pre owned crap." + most dealers = snakes (note "most")

Good luck and congrats I think the Z is one of the best looking/performing cars out their today for the price.
