I kind of thought that Silver really accented the lines of the Z, that's one thing that helped me make my decision as to which color to go with.

Zon, you really think that silver's a "fad" color? I agree there's lots of silver cars on the road these days though.

I think your points a good, but...

(-) black gets dirty faster than most other colours;

We all know dirt watches for black cars and goes for them, rather than white cars.

(-) the metallic doorhandles look better on the silver cars;

Complete disagreement. While the door handles look awesome on all colors, personal opinion says the sharp contrast brings out the door handles against the black.

(-) silver is popular now, hence it is easier to sell the car.

...if you sell it now, maybe. If you sell the Z 4+ years from now, this may or may not be the case. It is always easy to sell a black car.

I think all colors are incredible... all.

A black car that is dirty looks dirty. Makes sense. A Daytona Blue car that is dirty looks dirty. Also makes sense.

In the parking lot where I work, there are many colors of cars, including my black car. When all the cars are dirty, they all look dirty and show the dirt. My black car does not look any more dirty than other non-black cars, given the same amount of dirt. People with non-black cars have just as much work cleaning them as people with black cars.

I am confused as to the "black cars show dirt more" statements, as I can look out my window and see that to be incorrect.

I know we are treading on purely subjective ideas and opinions here...

I understand the issue to be that black cars will often show dirt more up close when the car is essentially clean but maybe just dusty. Go to a car lot after a windy rain and look at all of the cars. I think you will find that the darker cars, although all of the cars were previously clean, will have very visible dusty water spots, whereas you may not notice the same on white and lighter color cars. From a distance, all cars being equally dirty, I would think a white car would show the most if it was dirty enough.

That's true, true!! But I think that black shows dust a lot sooner than most other colors. My girlfriend has a black car and I have a white truck. Sometimes I wash them one right after the other. I can wash the black one last and park them for a few hours. Come out side and see the dust settling on the black already. The white one still looks fresh washed but it still has to be just as dusty, just can't see it yet. My own experience, of coarse. I'm just tired of it that's all.

Like a TV screen that is off. While off you can see all of the dust on the black screen. When on with lighter colors, you don't notice it.

And another thing. Being that I can't stand a dirty looking car, I am washing her black car twice as much, at least, as my white 4X4. Both vehicles have flaws in the paint but they show up so much easier on the black car.

I have to disagree somewhat on those points. Although I really do like black, I don't believe black won the "picking up chicks" thread that was going around a couple weeks ago. There are fewer black cars than silver ones these days, but I wouldn't call it a unique color in general. You can't go wrong with black in terms of lasting appeal, but it does look dirty way more than other colors. That is basically a fact.

I don't want to strongly disagree with you since I love black cars, but black cars tend to show dirt more than most other colours. You may probably get away with washing a silver colour less frequently than a black car.

Insofar as the metallic door handles are concerned, I have heard mixed reaction about them. While some like the contrast, others may find it too extreme as they break the harmony of the paint scheme. I am starting to like them myself ... BTW, are they plastic or metal?

As far as your last point is concerned, I am in total agreement. You can sell a black car any time, as the colour is timeless.

1) that survey was flawed to begin with, as they were only a handful of female participants! I conducted my own survey of chrome silver vs. black, and only one of the 23 female participants chose chrome silver over black. Admittedly, I didn't show them pictures of other colours. Perhaps they would have chosen Daytona Blue over chrome silver.

2) I didn't say black is a unique colour in general, I merely stated the fact that since there are fewer black Zs, it'll be more unique as compared to the more popular silver ones.

OK you convinced me. You are correct and everyone else I have ever talked to about the subject is dead wrong.

BLACK DOES NOT SHOW UP DIRT ANY MORE THAN ANY OTHER COLOR.

If you don't believe me go by toddluk's parking lot and see for yourself

Have had 5 sports cars and 4 have been black. Nothing looks better than a black sports car. It requires no more care than any other color. A dirty car is a dirty car it doesn't matter what color it is! Just wash your car once a week, it doesn't take more than an hour to do, at least for me.

Someone posted a message here recently saying they were plastic, not metal. They said the inside handles were aluminum, but not the door handles.

Default Black is worth it

I've had a black sports car for the last 5 years and am about to trade up to a black Z. People are right in that a black car takes more work to keep clean, but I think it's WORTH IT! Nothing like a clean black shiny car driving the streets at night...

Default Super Black Track

I am glad to see I am not the only who thinks a black car is hot hot hot. Now I really understand why I had to pay 12.00 bucks a week for a hand car wash, but worth it.

I too have have had two black cars, my beloved (RIP) 95 Z32 and despised 01 330ci (good riddence you piece of crap). Both cars look hot washed or not, more so the Z.

Saludos a todos. JK.
