Default More NNA/dealer poor communication

Just got off the phone with the Sales Mgr. at my dealer (north of S.F.) Their latest report gave a delivery date of early next week for the first pre-order Z but as of yet don't have a Vin#. He said this in not uncommon with NNA as they have had cars delivered in the past with no Vin# pre-advice.

Just goes to prove that NNA can't even give their dealers accurate or complete info.

He also said that NNA has in the past shipped direct to the S.F. port area instead of L.A. Maybe they were barged up rather then trucked and he doesn't know the difference.

Still waiting and hoping!

Default Vin #

Your sales manager is wrong about cars being delivered with no prior vin info. I know you only post what you are told but there are two sides to every issue.

ZISME, several people have reported being told the same thing on various 350Z forums.

What mechanism is used to get the VIN to the dealer?

This is not a complaint, I'm just curious about the how process is supposed to work.

It must be miserable in the corporate office to see this kind of **** going on, probably even more so knowing that the buying public considers *some* of your dealers to be on par with a few of the worst brands in the industry when it comes to customer service. Think VW and Ford.

Distribution reports that can be printed at the dealership on a daily basis. Once we receive the vin information in our system it shows up on these reports automatically the next day.

To be honest it is possible that a lot of dealers are not conditioned to refer to these reports. This is the first time, we have ever run a program where 7,800 vehicles were sold before they show up. 99.5% of the time dealers wouldn't have anyone calling asking for a order number or a vin number. No excuses though...the information is there and easily accessible. I am a little amazed at how some people answer questions without any basis for their answer...I hope this gets better.

ZISME,

Thanks for your response and input. I'm sure there are a lot of personnel that work at the dealerships that aren't properly trained. As representatives of NNA, albeit independant, it might behove NNA to initiate some kind of training program for dealership management. Maybe it already exists but is an option the dealers can select or not.

There was a previous post by an individual who stated that he actually showed the dealer rep how to access the Distribution report on their computer.

I will give the Sales Manager a break for a week or so then ask him again. If still nothing then I'll ask if he knows how to access the information. If not then I'm going to have to call NNA and ask that they do some checking.
