Unhappy Cant test drive 350z

I am considering a 350z except havent been able to test drive because the dealers in San Diego wont allow it. They only allow you to go around the block and that to me is a joke. I test drove the S2000 and was able to see what makes this car special. The shifting and handling of the S2000 is pretty amazing. The only knock against the S2000 it does not have enough torque. Could you give me feed back on the how the 350z performs. I am considering the 6 speed enthuasist.

I'd like a little more power, but the car handles like a car that costs twice as much. The ride is rough, not painful rough, but depending on the roads it can beat you up a little. Overall, for the money it's the best deal going. Especially if you don't mind people gawking at your beautiful new ride.

There's no way to describe the ride in detail, you gotta strap one one and take her for a spin.

The 350Z has PLENTY of torque. 274lbs/ft

Tell them, that if you can't take it for a "real" test drive, you'll take your business elsewhere. (out of the city)

is'nt that 274ibs of torque or whatever mis-leading, when they dyno its only 240
so I dont know whats reality there or not, I tend to believe its the lower figure so as not to get dissapointed when
some beemer whoops me (as usual)

The 274 pounds is at the flywheel, not what the car actually puts the ground etc. No car dynos at what the mfg claims its always less it like a 20% or so loss.

zackman, let me guess you are young? I have found most dealers to be complete ******** if you are young. When I was about 18-19 I went to a Toyota dealership to test out a Celica. I practically had to hassle the dealer into a test drive, this guy was a complete waste of my time. And when I did finally get to drive, we went about 1000 feet down the road and had to turn around. Needless to say, I won't ever buy from that dealer. (And to think my family bought two cars from them, and my friend bought one as well)

Luckly, since I am 23 and just graduated college (BS in AE) the dealers are more than happy to bend over backwards to get me a test drive on the Zs.

I'd suggest a few things. One, dress really nice, like you're going to church. I know it shouldn't matter but it helps. Two, take an older person (assuming you're young) like your parents or something. Three, If you can show up in a fairly new or expensive car. Again, shouldn't matter but it does.

No I am 35 years old. The reason they claim they wont let me drive further is the fact they dont want to put miles on their cars, or they want you to put money down on a car. I never had problems driving any other cars ie BMW, Corvette so i assume it is due to the limited avaiblity of the Z. The dealers in San Diego only have touring or track models pushing the cost up to the high thirties.

Well, then I don't know what they're problem is. Sure, you wnat to keep the miles down, but you also want to sell the car don't they?

I'd call around or ask around to see if there are any dealers willing to let you take it out for at least 5-10 imles. Good luck.

I went to Mossy in National City and I was able to test drive a track model. I put 10 miles on it. But, this was back in December. Have you tried them out yet?

I got the same exact BS Shpiel when I went to check out the Z's - asked me "you wouldn't want to get a new car with miles on it would you?" Psshhh whatever. I love my car as much as the next guy, but the Z ain't no ferrari or porsche turbo or an exotic. But the Nissan dealers are treating the Z as such... pretty ridiculous not allowing test drives for a car that has production #'s around 30,000 units.
