Z:

- Exhaust note

- Looks great with just a drop and some deep dish wheels.
- Much better suited for drifting if you are into that

S:
- More nimble, just feels precise and purpose built
- Fit/finish and engineering seem to be a notch above the Z
- Good track car out of the box. The stock brakes are much more capable.
- Gearbox is nearly perfect
- Not as common
thats a good comparison between them

if you want the best of both worlds get a M3 and own...
s2000s are impractical, uncomfortable if youre close to 6 feet and if u easily get annoyed by rattles and buzzing dont get one.
theyre good weekend cars but i have yet to see a s2k do something my Z cant and im pretty stockish..stance coils, clutch/flywheel, test pipe & work 19s.

check the clip from youtube.com 350z vs s2000 the s2000 is in the way most of the race but once the z passes its over by a longshot in only one lap
Best post in the thread. The HR just walked away from the Z. No wonder the Z was short-shifting some of those moments - if he hadn't, he'd have rammed right into the S2K.

Honestly, I hate to admit this but the s2k's interior IS superior. Its more detailed and is made of better quality material than the 03-05 Z (06+ Zs has equal quality to the s2k's interior)

The other advantage to a lot of people who buys s2ks is that it all it really needs is: Drop / Wheels / Front Lip / Exhaust and BAM! You're done. No need for anything else and parts are cheaper.

I didn't buy it because I know this douche-bag that has one and I didn't wanna have the same car as him. Plus, the 350z grabbed me in a different way then the s2k. I love the Zs when it's modded right and it looks much more luxurious - it definitely looks a lot more expensive than it costs.

Think of the 350z as a beautiful girl you'd love to marry but the s2k is just a girl you see at work that sometimes you'd love to hook up with but at other time looking at her will annoy the **** out of you!

Give me your thoughts.

I owned an 03 S2000 and currently have an 08 350Z Touring 6 speed.

S positives - Handles like a go cart compared to the Z, when you V-tech from 6k RPM to redline (was 9K on the 03) it feels and sounds like a formula race car. Below V-tech it's like driving a civic. Good gas milage in low 20's no matter how you drive it and they are built well. No defects in my two years of ownership. Shifts well, very solid unlike the Z.

S negatives - cramped interior, noisey at all speeds, exhaust sounds like crap even with an after market (I had a Borla, took it off because of drone and still sounded like crap) Rear tires worn out at 10K miles with no abuse.

The Z has much more torque, the ride is significantly smoother, exhaust sounds awesome with the Nismo cat back, interior room is more spacious, car looks awesome IMO, paint sucks, transmission and clutch suck compared to the S. ]

In summary, the Z is a car that you can live with for the long term with comfort and convenience features that the S does not have. The Z is significantly smoother in all respects and I really like the feel and sound of a 6 cyl. motor.

Drive them both back to back and your decision will be fairly simple. They both have very appealing features, it just depends on what you like.

I always see the S2000 as a miata with a nose job, ask yourself this question "should i buy a miata?" and theres your answer. and it's funny when someone in an S2000 drives up next to me and I say "hey, i didn't know they made convertible civics" they hate that.

I love both cars, wouldn't mind owning either. I went with the Z because it stirred my soul more than any other car I have seen. And you will meet S owners who say the same thing.

Forget all this fanboi-ism and just enjoy whichever car you choose because you will never own a car that doesn't have its supporters and detractors.

This is fun, I just killed like 20 minutes at work. When I first read the title of this thread I thought "not again..." but it turned out to be much more! I'll be back in 20 minutes for another go!

First of all, i have owned both, cardomain hollywoodray24, and on the link to the post you provided, "wildncrazy" is absolutely full of sh:t. no 02 S2000 is going to out pull ANY Z, let along an 07, wtf? Seriously if you have a garage and a love convertibles, and don't care about "room" the S is for you. However if you would a nice kick in the pack when shifting, a "knife proof" top(ex-girlfriends), not to mention a "sports car" in every sense of the word just as the S, then the Z is for you my friend. The Z has been proven faster in every aspect, the track, the strip etc. My vote goes to the Z. And for those that claim there are too many Z's on the road, well no Sh:t, that's because there is a demand for them!

Black is Beautiful, i love my Z!
