Reading some more into the 350Z specs on KBB.com (who knows if they're right or if they're just guessing), I noticed they have some paint codes marked as "metallic". Also, they have PP White as "pearl" -- I think some were wondering whether it was flat like the Maxima (?) or pearl. Believe it or not...

KH3 Black, Super

B17 Blue, Daytona Metallic

AX8 Brickyard, Metallic

AX6 Redline

KY0 Silver, Chrome Metallic

WV2 Silverstone, Metallic

A17 Sunset, Le Mans Pearl

QX1 White, Pikes Peak Pearl

 

when I built the car on USAA.com, it said Lemans was a metallic. I sure hope so. imho pearl paint always looks like its a little dirty. ( I speak from having had a pearl yellow 91 Twin Turbo), maybe it will be pearl metallic like the 91 was.

 

I have my dealers orders sheets/invoice list and it says the Le Mans is metallic. Pikes Peak is the only pearl color. FYI they call the red and black solid.

 

Right. I didn't notice KBB says LeMans is pearl. I would tend to believe it's metallic instead. I guess whoever entered the paint codes for KBB was taking an educated guess -- like almost everything else about the 350Z right now!

 

What exactly is the difference between metallic and pearl paints?

Metallic is shines more... right?

 

metallic is more toward silver which pearl is more toward white~
