Red face shift **** removal problems??

ok, I tried to remove my shift **** when putting in new headunit. Wrapped the **** with a cloth and used wrench, slightly messed up leather.

Took a nylon strap and vice grips and twisted like it was an oil filter wrench. made 1 whole turn and nothing happened except shifter felt extremely afu.

took shifter out of car, used vice grips on base, and nylon strap/ vice grips on ****. Made 3 complete turns and still didn't break loose.

Any ideas? Now I need a nismo ****, since the stock one is marred, im thinkng hav ethe dealer install, even though it goes against everything I believe.

I used the prior that you have used and got it off. It was extremely hard to get off but it finally gave. Or go with my other suggested choice... Torch it off. Bring it by the house and I'll get it off.

I never removed the shift know to change out my HU. Simply lift op the trim piece, remove the Temperature control ribbon cable, and slide is sideways out of the way.

You guys must be wimps!

I played with mine at traffic lights while bored, and finally got it to just break loose one day with my bare hand. It did feel like you'd twist the shifter off before it came loose, though.

no, you can leave it on, but the trim piece w/heater controls. gets in the way of removing the center console. I didn't want to scratch it up.
