Default Couple of new owner questions.

Hello everyone. Just bought a San Marino 2008 Enth. Z
Couple of questions

1. How many change their own oil? Ramps? Jacks? Don't bother?
I am coming from a Titan 4x4 (still have it) and Frontys, Xterra, Pathys where I can just slide underneath. I did/do all my oil changes, differential gear oil changes, tire rotations etc....

2. Getting it tinted Fri. Do I need to worry about the defroster lines on the back window?
All the above vehicles had that part already privacy glassed or didn't have defrosters lines, so I never had to worry.

3. Is changing the battery a pain with the fuse box under the plastic cover with it? Do you have to take the whole plastic cover surround off to swap out batteries?

Thanks

Welcome.

I believe there is a DIY oil change thread.

Ask your tinter about the heated lines.

What's wrong with the battery? Its a new car.

I buy my own oil and have Nissan do it. Usually costs 20 bucks.

It's not hard to do it yourself, its just a pain to get rid of the oil.

Great another Z owner who likes to do the maintenance himself!! The tint is not a problem with the defroster in the hatch glass. Battery is easy enough you have to remove the cover and the plastic shroud, no big deal though. COngrats on the Z

1. i don't bring my car in the shop for anything i can't do myself. Oil is as easy as putting a spare tire on. I juse use a low profile jack and use jack stands. Simple. I really like the location and design of the 350z's oil filter. Very easy access for a very fast oil change. As a matter of fact, i did my last oil change on my lunch break and still had time to eat and everything.

2. The professional tint installer will have no problem with the defroster lines.

3. yes, if you want to do a good job, take off the plastics. If you have super small hands and don't mind getting them cut up and getting other engine components scratched or messed up, you don't have to take off all plastics. but it's so easy just to do it properly.

I jack mine and do my own oil, takes less than 1/2 hour. The defroster still works with tint, not a problem at all ( i used to be a tinter) Yes the cover has to come off, its 3 or 4 plastic clips(easy)

Thanks for the answers and the congrats on the new car. Appreciate your time.

Nothing is wrong with the battery. But there will be someday. It's stock/factory/OEM. I have replaced alot of new car batteries over the years. They don't last along time in Florida heat. Would rather swap out in a year or two than get stranded.

Would ramps be easier than jacks and jack stands. I already have 2 yellow metal ramps. Would be easy to get 2 more. I can back the end of the Titan up on them and it holds ok.

Thanks for the tint answers. I know tint sometimes has metal coatings etc... I know when they set the appt. they asked if the window had an antenna in it and if it did they would have to use a more expensive ceramic tint.

Thanks again.
