I'm hoping that your question is rhetorical because his comment is wholly and blatantly a joke. It doesn't take much intelligence to realize that a rainbow is an identifying marker of the gay community and/or a gay person. Furthermore, it's no mystery that a larger population of gays (in the US) in this country live in San Francisco. He could have easily said Chicago or New York too. IMO his comment is purely comedic in nature and not homophobia or anything else negative. Peeps need to grow a sense of humor..
