I daily drive my Z. I owned a auto Z for 3 months, loved it but after 2 months I wanted a manual. I was saying that without ever driving a manual in my life. I found a good deal on my nismo and got it. I love the MT, it's tons of fun to drive. After 30-60 mins of driving you get the hang of it pretty good. I miss the AT in heavy traffic, but who doesn't.
When I had my AT, friends with S2000s etc never said anything to me about it. A 350z is a 350z, doesn't matter if it shifts for you or not, after all, you can always shift with AT if you want :P. If you decide on MT try driving friends to make sure that's what YOU want.

I would only buy manual if I knew how to drive with it and didn't live in Chicago. I love just cruising and relaxing driving my auto. The tiptronic or automanual features is really fun too. Less likely to have problems with an auto, but if you do, it will cost you alot of money. Just a few things to consider.

Yeah you'll get laughed at, but who cares. There's no speed difference. I wanted MT but I had to get a LeMans Sunset Z....I waited 4 months just to find one and every one I saw listed along the way was AT. So I settled for it, always drive in manual mode and after owning it, don't regret it at all.

Totally reflects my feelings on this. My AT has been a pleasure to drive since the day I got it. I have friends who say they would have gotten the Z with a MT but I have the Z and I make the decision about how I want to drive it. That sentence had a lot of "I"s but that's the way it goes when you make a decision to buy a car like the Z. You get what you feel is best for you, not what someone else wants. And so it goes.........

I thought about getting an AT, but then I learned to drive manual... and that was the X factor...
My advice, learn manual. You can't really make a good, firm decision until you know both and drive both. If you're going to be in traffic 80% of the time and you can't afford a beater DD, then I'd probably just get an auto.

Let me make this plain and simple...
track days, major mods, dont live in downtown traffic = 6 speed
no track days, bolt on, live in metropolitan area with nasty *** traffic like downtown L.A.= 5 speed AT
Enjoy your Z, she is sexy and fun either way.

Good points are being made here, Like many have already said, think about your driving conditions on a regular basis, and what will work best for YOU.
When your sportin down the road in the Z, doubtful that anyone will point the finger at you, and laugh for driving a At. The Z is a great car period.

I live in the "city" traffic light after traffic light..I love my auto. Being able to have a drink in my right hand an entire drive to work or eat an apple without getting the juice everywhere while moving my hands around makes it nice.
Though sometimes I picture what it would be like to have a clutch...but then I just use my clutchless shift....yaya its not the same..but works 100% fine for me

Stickshift. You'll never feel the power of the car with an automatic. EVER! The whole idea of "Z" is sports car. No sports car should ever shift for you.
However.......in risk of getting flammed...
As much of a diehard fan of 6mt I am, I can understand that if you just like the car for looks and live in a city...automatic is acceptable..

50/50..because there is reason for it.
some people like stick and some people like auto..thats all..
there is no reason for argue about speed or anything..
its gonna be the same if you drive daily on local.. =)
you can't even go faster than 90mph on local anyways...maybe on hwy...
