Guys, Take a chill pill. A sense of humor is a wonderful thing! Obviously, Bob, our 71 year young birthday boy and The Brickyard Rat get it.

I wish Bob nothing but the best and another 71 years of driving a Z

That's a damned good question. I never really thought about it. Maybe part of it is I've worked as a school psychologist counseling kids and teenagers most of my life. It gave me a chance to anchor part of myself in the world of young people as well as those of my own age. My wife and I also made a conscious effort to move into a age mixed neighborhood when we retired. We have many neighborhood friends of all ages, ranging from families with young kids to older retirees. I would go nuts if I we had moved into one of those over 55 retirement communities.

My wife and I enjoy reading and frequently check out new movies of all kinds. I like adventure flicks, sci fi, good drama, and comedy. To me computer generated special effects are fantastic. I'm not afraid of computers, like digital photography, and consider myself fairly good at making camcorder videos.

While I am into collecting toy trains as a hobby the most interesting part of it is the open houses at our toy train museum when I get a chance to meet and interact with people of all ages who find the trains fascinating.

I've always been interested in sports cars, go to car meets, and, again mixing the age ranges, frequently take along a "part time" 14 year old grandson living down the block with me when I go to car shows. Nothing like a teenager to rekindle your interst and feelings about fast cars.

It is important to keep in shape physically. My wife and I stay slim, eat light, and enjoy a glass of wine every evening. We dress casual in jeans and t shirts and stay away from those polyester pants and tucked in polo shirts worn by so many of those pot bellied old men.

Sorry I went on so long with this, I don't know if this answers your question but it did get me thinking.

Bob

Happy belated birthday Bob!

This is a really 'feel good' sort of thread! I'm only 23 and I can only hope that I'll even be walking at your age, but you give us all inspiration of what can be later in life if we take care of ourselves now.

Good looking out Bob, and keep enjoying your Z for many many years to come.

I'm not as diligent, or as thin, as Trains when it comes to food...but my wife is which has certain carry over to me.

I am as diligent on exercise. I do 30-60 minutes a day, every day, on a treadmill or brisk walk. And have for 30 some years.

As you guys get older paying attention to diet & exercise will give you a lot more years were you can enjoy sports cars....among other things!

Happy Belated Birthday!

I'm 63 and have had my 03 Z (6MT) for a couple years. Bought it in South Carolina and drove it across the country. Kind of a mini vacation for my wife and myself.

I still work ~50 hours a week (computer hardware engineering). Work out 4 times a week (run 60 miles a month). Play tennis 2 or 3 times a week too.

The Z is my daily driver. I am really **** about keeping it in shape. Drive it nice most of the time but go thru the gears once in a while.

Enjoy the ride!

Tom S.
