Default Inferior Interior ?!

What is it with the negative reviews for the interior of the Z!? Is it that bad? This weeks episode of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, railed, among other things, against the (drone, drone, drone) dismal interior that the 350 has to offer. I have noticed similar reviews by other shows and magazines. I purchased the Silverstone with Burnt Orange and have little to complain about. Do some of the other color combos look bad? Unless it's clad with leather, forested with wood, or the ultra exotic stock carbon fiber, what modern car is not a "sea of plastic"? Does the refreshing simplicity of the dot patterned door panels drown them? Or maybe there are not enough metal ***** for them to grasp and twiddle. Granted, the texturing of VW/AUDI interiors are more sophisticated and carefully executed, but most of it is still PLASTIC! I will gripe about the some of the obviously painted bits such as the binnacle fascia and switch stalks. But honestly, the panel gap and fit is good. Original and simple design elements are nicely executed. And, on the whole, the designers did a nice production rendition of the original show car.

What are your gripes?

Atheistically confused,
Koryo

its because they are comparing it to a honda accord,

Compare this to a ferrari and the Z's interior is as plush as one of Sadamm's love shacks,

I would be pissed if there was fabric on the doors of my Z, that stuff belongs in Volvo's, Honda's, Mazda's, Ford's ( i mean death traps), and Chryslers.

ROFL r u serious??? Everything that is plastic in the Z is hand stitched in conolly leather in the Ferrari. I think ur comparing the Z to the wrong manufacturer. Next to a Hyundai the Z's interior is as plush as one of Saddamm's pune palace.

Koryo its not so much the fact its still plastic, its the execution and quality of the plastic. Audi r definetly ahead in this area, and also Lexus models that rnt rebadged Toyotas. The plastics r thicker, better textured and ultimately look and feel more expensive. I hear complaints all the time on this forum about the Z door trims scuffing/marking easily. The Audi plastics, being better quality, simply dont damage as easily. Also take a peak in and around the luggage area and behind the seats, surely u cant argue Top Gear r wrong. U have to understand in Europe, even here in Aus, the Z is alot more expensive than in US, and that somewhat warrants the criticism.

Yeah dude, you're smoking crack on that one. Have you ever actually been inside a Ferrari?

Personally the 360 is what gets me out of bed every morning

ferrari's are the jokes of the automtive world,

If you guys really have ferrari's instead of Z's then you should sell them.

With a few thousand dollars worth of modifications the Z will out perform every mass produced ferrari made.

ROFLMAO that has got to be THE funniest post of the month! Gee if theyre a joke, y does every Jap manufacturer benchmark their car's against Ferrari.....im thinking NSX, RX7.....all Ferrari clones!

Ummm theres more to a Ferrari than straight line speed, its the mystic of a company who was founded by one man with the vision to make extraordinary engines, not in some boardroom with the mindset to build super cheap economical runabouts. By ur logic u should buy a Civic and Turbo it for even less money. The Z shows nowhere near the same character, individuality, or history of the famed prancing horse. The fact ur even comparing the two makes me laugh. I doubt the guys at Ferrari know the Z even exists. Its funny how u mention mass produced, given one Ferrari rolls off the production line in the same amount of time as 1000 Z's r put together by robots. Obviously u dont quite know what Ferrari stand for, or how they r manufactured.

Its strange then how the majority of all the rare classic cars that r sought after by enthusiasts the world over came from Ferrari....where will the Z be in 10yrs time LOL. Sold for next to nothing in some dodgy dealer lot alongside civics and neons. No Jap cars have become classics in the mold of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche.

Nice try but the Z is a 29K car for a reason!

the sparse interior is one reason I bought the car, I dislike trim and fake wood and carpet. I wish someone made a 'industrial safety rubber' kit to replace the carpeting in the car. something im thinking about doing actually. they are comparing the interior to those gross, plush 'luxury cars'.

also..i find the ergonomics quite good. all the controls are in a good spot....

easy to keep clean to. those car magazines are written for 'the herd'. this car, while no ferrari or lotus is definately not for 'the herd'.

Yea, Ferrari is the joke of the automotive world. Thats why almost every Ferrari made is pretty much guaranteed to be a classic. Thats why the 250GT's and 275GT's made in the 60's look better than almost every car ever made. That's why Ferrari dominates the F1 circuit. That's why the Ferrari Enzo broke every last one of the McLaren F1's records. That's why people still line up to pay well over MSRP on the 360. And the people who don't have the privelage of paying over MSRP import them from Europe.

You take your Z and your few thousand dollars. I'll take a Ferrari 360 Modena, or a 575M, or a 456GT.... I'll even take the 456 GTA. We'll see who wins every performance test. We'll see who turns every head in every city in every country. We'll see who's car sounds exotic and who's car sounds like its trying to be exotic.

The Z with all the mods in the world will never compare to the mystique of the Ferrari. Every Ferrari is the perfect blend of civility and brute performance. Jesus, the 30,000 mile service on the Enzo costs more than a track model Z. So does the brake system.

Go back to the drawing board.

Im glad u guys share my view of Ferrari being more than just another car company. I didnt mean to bag the Z, but the simple fact is the Z is a competitor to Honda, Toyota, Mazda. It's well out of it's depth against established Euro brands, for both engineering and build quality. What i dont understand is the motives behind ppl complaining the interior isn't good enough. The Z is built to a price, a low price compared to Euro cars in the same genre, so dont b suprised to hear these cars r better finished. Its a 29K car in the US, with a V6 engine and good chassis, albeit shared with many other Nissan's and Infinity's. Just live with the so-so interior, and enjoy the low monthly repayments. Its for ppl like us Aussies who pay $46K US (AUS $70K) for the Z who should b complaining, coz for that money in the US, we CAN buy the better built Euro equivalent.

All of the rep.'s for Ferrari have a 350Z as a daily driver, pretty cool though.

I actually really like the Z's interior. The plastics are harder than many other cars, but that doesn't really bother me. The layout is excellent IMO, and the way everything is very well organized and simple is one of it's best features.

I don't even mind the NAV door, although the front cupholder is a joke.

Other than that though, I like the interior as much as any other car I've been in. The "feel" of the materials may not be as high quality as some, but the funtionality, egronomics, and style more than make up for it IMO.

Ferrari's are definitely very nice now, but in the past they had been criticized for poor quality in pretty much everything except their performance. Of course, I wouldn't complain if I was able to own one!

I'm sorry, but that's a serious case of "trolling".

I would rather be caught in a geo metro than a ferrari.

They are unreliable, have horrible resale value, and cost a fortune to keep in the proper condition.

A Ferrari is a rather useless car. It cant be used as a daily driver, it cant be driven far without service, and it is not built to accumulate many miles in the first place.

Very few ferrari's are considered classics. In fact the market has all but vanished for any ferrari made within the last 40 years.

Many people spent well over 250k in the '90's on ferrari's only to see them be worth 50-70k.

I think you guys need to do some research before you make false claims regarding ferrari's. I would rather have a Toyota Corolla.

90% of the country would agree with me.

It is rare that I find a post where not a single part is true. Everything you have stated here is utter rubbish.

1.) Ferrari has a racing heritage that can be compared to very few other companies (Porsche, Bentley, and Maserati are all I can think of off hand).

2.) No $3,000 (that's a few) is going to make a Z handle, accelerate, brake, and (most importantly) sound like a Ferrari.

3.) Ferraris are not mass produced. Each one is hand made, hand stiched, and hand assembled in every respect.

In conclusion, you need to do a lot less talking and a lot more shutting up. People do not buy Ferraris for economy (as you seem to think with all of your additional ramble about maintenance), they buy them for extraordinary appeal to the senses of sight, sound, and touch.

If you are jealous and can't afford one, great. But don't rag on a car for something that you not only have no right to, but something that only makes you look stupid in the eyes of any educated person.

I'd give labshark a yellow card if I was a mod.

Make no mistake, he is a troll, plain and simple.

Woh calm down cowboy. U make a good point, granted, but Labshark didnt even acknowledge the low rent interiors of American cars, he jumped straight into the deep end and compared with Ferrari, which with its hand-stitched impeccably crafted interior is the automotive equivalent of a tailored Boss suit.....the Z, well it shops at Woolworths.

But Labshark is a funny kinda troll. Y didnt he simply buy a new spanking Corolla with hub caps instead of the Z, and drive around with a huge smile on his face?
