It seems like this should be really obvious. I don't know what the OP thought was going to happen, like we were all going to say how much we hate our Zs, and that's why we post online about them.

BMWs and Benzo's are not nearly as reliable as you think.

Z28 camaro's and pre '07 Z's have the same power to weight ratio, if that helps.

I have raced (at the track) a few LS1's. Off the line, they are almost identical up to about 3rd gear. The LS1 has a lot of acceleration at the top of 3rd gear which will let them get about a car length ahead at about 100mph of so. This is me driving a non-revup. non-HR motor. I think the important point is power delievery. The Z's power is so easily accessable. It almost doesn't care which gear you are in. The old addage of the 'area under the curve' is what is really important. But if you are thinking the fun of the car is in the straightline bits, you may be missing the point of having a Z.

The fact that you came to arguably the largest 350z message board to ask this question tells me that you already want it, but you just need some people to cheer you on while you do it.

Did you really expect people here to say "NAW MAN DON'T BUY IT..THE CAR IS HORRIBLE..I DONT KONW WHY I STILL HAVE MINE" or what?

What kind of "deal" can I expect on a Z? Do they cut some cash off the MSRP typically? Im looking for 30k OTD.
I kinda came in mid-wind of the thread, but you are asking for Mercedes quality without the sticker price? Maybe you'd be interested in a Hyundai...

hope this helps and i apologize for the long, somewhat rambling reply

oh also if you do some shopping for stealerships you can usually get a z pretty cheaply (i paid $26,800 for my base, which was about $4,000 cheaper than the other stealerships)
