Enthusiast? Touring? What did you buy and why
Enthusiast-I needed the most simple car possible & wanted LSD. Did not need Brembos (Got Wilwood BBK), Did not need Leather seats (Got Brides), Did not need Bose (Got AVIC D3), Did not need Aero Package (Got Veilside). Did not need Nismo (Installed the Nismo Suspension & Exhaust). I bought the car as a base to modify so why pay for stuff I was going to replace.
Base because I didn't want any sort of traction control, stability control, steering wheel buttons, leather, etc.....and I'm assuming it's also lighter than the others. All it needs now is a NISMO LSD...nothing a little money can't take care of though.

Touring; no regrets. Leather is great. The BOSE system does suck, but if you care enough about your audio system, you'll be swapping out for aftermarket anyway. Brembos would have been nice, although a BBK isn't too far out of reach. Heated seats are great during the winter if it's going to be your DD, and cruise control is nice, but never used.
There is a moral to this story:
I bought TOURING, but wanted an ENTHUSIAST.
It is 85 (at last in Chicago) and I am sweating to death in the leather. The Bose is awful--and has now been replaced.
I would have liked the Touring, if it was the Burnt Orange seats. I also like the frost leather interior on colors where it is available.
Bottom line, I wanted the Solar Orange, but didn't pull the trigger until December 2007--I hunted hard to find the car out of state, with a dealer who was willing to negotiate the price--but overall I was forced to take what I could find.
Moral:
All you who are WAITING for the '08 deals--keep in mind to balance your wants against the discounts.
I love my car, and know I 'saved' about $1000 off what most Tourings were going for--however, I would have saved more real money by finding an Enthusiast EARLIER. OR I should have been willing to spend more earlier and gotten a touring with the Burnt Orange interior.
Next time, I will still deal on the price, but I won't sacrifice the option combination that I want.

The market for 300+hp V-6 sports cars is soft. I was offered invoice price right off on my car.
The base Z can be moved but the upper level Touring and Grand Touring will take longer to sell.
I got the Touring because I couldn't justify Grand Touring price, it is in the Lexus/Infiniti range. However, Nissan is not in the Lexus/Infiniti range in quality, features, or customer service. Plus the dealer would not discount the Grand Touring high enough.
GT sticker was $40K I offered $34,000 they wouldn't accept my offer so I got the Touring w/Sat Nav, auto, aero package for $32,817 from another dealer.

I would get touring, but thats alot of waste of money for things you do not need/plan on changing. Leather can be put in. Bose system has bad reviews, vdc is not needed since you have traction control with enthu, and thats about it. I'll be patient
.
Black on Black Touring.
I wanted the LSD (did not want to install post-purchase to be honest with you), i wanted traction and stability control (daily driver to work so i have to count for snow, ice and rain). I did not want to mess around installing aftermarket audio so Bose was a welcome bonus (it does the job fine since half the time i don't want to hear anything but the exhaust note anyway). Heated seats (yes i like to pamper myself), auto-dimming mirror (i love this thing) and XM - i hate FM to be honest, its all crap these days.
6 speed manual (naturally), carpets, cargo net... hmm thats about it i think.
What i really wanted was Black on Black. I wanted a completely black interior (the only accents are on the HVAC control *****, the buttons on the instrument cluster sides and the shifter surround plate, everything else is black. I did not want tan, i did not want gray, i did not want brown or whatever. So when the right car turned up i took it. Brand new '08 with everything exactly the way i wanted. 32k and change

I went Enthusiast the Touring upgrades weren't worth the money to me.
It gets crazy hot here in the summer 100+ and leather is miserable when it gets hot.
Doesn't get cold so I don't need heated seats.
Not paying for a Bose system I will replace.
I could care less about any of the other upgrades.
Brembos would be nice but they can be put on later.

Good luck

.I bought by 08' Touring for $32,800.00.
There are dealers willing to haggle. Also, timing matters, being summer season, i doubt the dealer will budge much on price, although, the way economy is and slower sales on vehicles, i wouldn't be surprised.
Keep shopping around.
