My 2005 came with theft-resistant lugs on each wheel. The dealer must have put them on, since I also have the four original. Anyone else buy a new Z that came with these?

 

I would guess that this is probably someone you know. Their is no monetary value in the lugs w/o the wheels.

Does your gf have a brother? Have you made any enemies lately?

Be thankful that they took them off completely and didnt just loosen them. At highway speeds that could have been fatal.

 

Get spline lugs or something that requires a key next time. (Also, you need some tire gel in a bad way )

There was a group of kids in one of my previous neighborhoods that would steal the caps off the tire stems and put them on their bikes (if they were the chrome / specialty ones) and eventually graduated to stealing emblems off the hoods of peoples cars and at least once took the lugs off a jeep.

Just a suggestion, get one of those motion activated lights to overlook your driveway and hopefully scare people away if they approach the car.

so before this rim deal happend i was priceing some r1 rotors and pads because my brakes need replaceing. after this happend i realised that i need to get emmisions for new tags, need to pay the 250 deductible, and due to the scratches on my rims id like to get them painted. i also need lugs for my stock rims because im 5 short on those and dont have the proper lugs for my volks.

Bet they did not have a low profile jack to steal the wheels. As I am sure you all know the normal floor jack will not clear the 350. Thank God for low cars. Saved you the nightmare of heading out in the morning to the car sitting with out wheels.

As to taking the Volks apart they will tell you not to but I have pulled mine and brushed the hoops. Looks good not hard to do but they are heading to powder coat soon. Only bad thing is you will not find torque specs on the bolts anywhere.

no my rotors hit my rims on the inside and the fenders held it off the floor (the best they could). if you look the fenders are flexing from the weight

I've seen worse. I've seen a car where someone not only stole the lugnuts, but replaced them all with locking ones, a different one for each lug...and didn't leave the keys.

Seems like they were in the middle of stealing your wheels. Probably didnt have time to take the wheels off since u were out and about by 5 am already..

 

God i would be so pissed. Glad i have extended new chrome lugs that stick out like a sore thumb. ( i notice them everytime i get in the car). Plus my car stays in a garage at the apartment. People suck, hope everything works out man.
