I lol'ed at my dealer today...
I will make this as short as possible...
30 Days ago, I got my car checked out they told me cat converter needs to be replaced. So I say go ahead order the part. ($800)
Phone Call:
Dealer: Hey Nick, How are you today?
Me: I'm fine how are you.
Dealer: Good, Good... I got some more bad news your car has to stay with us until monday. We placed the new cat converter on and the other one is broke too.
Me: Oh really, Why didn't you guys figure this out 30 days ago?
Dealer: uhh I am not sure.
^^^ btw this is the same dealer that wont fix my rear axle clicking (TSB). Where can I get that fixed for free? I called up Nissan directly, they told me they would replace it if it was broken and didn't have to get lubed...

They sure as hell pollute the **** out of the air we breathe though. I'm not a tree hugger or anything, but we're gonna need that air and polluting as much as 15 cars for 10 hp isn't really a great plan long term.
I was working on an exhaust system for a Caliber SRT4 and we built a 3" down pipe and 3.5" exhaust system for it. We designed two downpipes, one with no cat just a straight pipe and the other with a 300 cel 3" cat in the down pipe.
The base dyno was 273whp (I was very surprised) and the exhaust with the 300 cel cat made a 48whp improvement over that (again very surprised) and the exhaust without the cat was only 2whp better. So basically absoluetly no benefit to run without a CAT.
The company who will be selling the exhaust didn't even want the down pipe without the cat after seeing how good it was with one. They definitely wanted the video and pics we did of the dyno with and without the cat.
I know they are a few hundred bux for them vs. test pipes, but think about what you are doing before you run with test pipes. Besides ever drive behind a car with a test pipe? They stink so bad its terrible.
Here are a couple of pics just incase you think I may not know what I'm talking about. I can't post the dyno with the before and after as it's owned by the company we built the exhaust for and I would get in trouble for post it.
