It is metal art and the quality is very good. Looks to be out of a brushed stainless. I emailed them about some other items too and they would even add any external mods done to your car. The price that they are selling these at are cheap only because the first batch were prototypes. They said the finalized art is more detailed so will cost anywhere from $110-175...still not bad though.

I think they just scan a pic put a filter on it, convert it to autocad and a computer will do the laser cut automaticly... not bad for 40$ but dont think Id ever pay 175 for it.

wadd could correct me if it would be more complicated than that tho.

Umm, no, dude

I know a bit about lasers (I've operated one for 8 years) and have had advanced CAD/CAM training, and that's not the way it works It takes some time to make rastors into vectors even if you happen to get a converting program it still is not perfect. Something like that does take time to do.

That would take a few hours at best and lots of nitpicking to do. And brushed stainless alone is about $120-140 per 48x120 sheet (then add in laser time, which is pretty hefty/in demand at the moment, seeing as I've been on mandatory 72 hour weeks for a few months ).

*shrug*

I happen to have a sheet of brushed stainless which I use for other purposes. That ebay price is pretty good actually. With a lazer or water jet it would take a long time for it to cut all those intracate shapes.

You would have to take a photograph of that plate, then import the jpg and sketch over it. Could take a coulpe+ hours.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago for my 7 year old son. I thought 'what the heck the price is right I'll give it a shot'. After a couple of emails to this guy I realized he was ligit. Easy to work with. The piece arrived quickly and I am very pleased. High quality He was right... this piece is going to sell for much more in the future.
Now I am debating giving it to my son.
