My weekend at the NJ beach with my Z
This is long. I just had to get this off my chest.
/begin rant
So I shined up my Z for a nice weekend at the beach, looking forward to a relaxing and stress free weekend. The trip down to Avalon NJ from my place in PA consisted mostly of dodging stone flinging SUV's and trucks without mud flaps...I always TRY to leave 4 or 5 car lengths in front of me and the car ahead of me to avoid rock chips, but for some reason, someone always has to cut in front of me and close off the distance. Not sure why...they never get anywhere any faster by doing this. So at the end of my 1.5 hr trip, I had 3 new paint chips on my bumper.
That night when coming back to my car from a bar, I noticed this kid on a bicycle kneeling down next to my Z's wheel. I quickly run over to find out what he's up to, and he gets on his bike and takes off. I didn't chase him; he looked about 12...and I thought maybe he was just checking out my car. Well, turns out he stole 2 of my valve stem covers. Good times had by all.
So today I stop at the gas station on Avalon Blvd. to fill up. For those of you that don't know this, in Jersey, the attendants are required by law to fill your car for you. So I watch the attendant in my rear view mirror...She pulls off the gas cap and dropped it right on my fender instead of hooking it...then proceeds to spray gasoline alll over the side of my car. It almost looked intentional, although i'm guessing it wasn't. She must have soaked a 2ft area around my wheel. Then she walked away after putting the nozzle in. So took a deep breath, got out of the car and was nice about it; I asked if she had any water to wash it off. She said no and walked away. So at that point I am pissed. I go over to the vending machine and try to buy some bottled water to get it off and it was sold out...So I lost it a little and started cursing fairly loudly to myself. The other attendant came up to me and asked me what the problem was. I told him what the other attendant did, and he proceeds to get the dirty a$$ alcohol covered window squeagie and starts washing my fender with it...I asked him to kindly stop, but thanked him for his efforts. So now my car has gas and alcohol and dirt all over the wheel well. As i'm pulling away from the gas station, the first attendant gives me this nasty look....like ~IM~ the a$$hole....
I'm still at the beach, but i'm hoping things improve for my car...this sh&t is pissing me off.

It looks like you have had your car a few months. I would strongly advise you get an Xpel or Stoneguard kit put on the front ASAP. I had a few knicks before I got mine put on and am very glad I now have one. You could always get a bra if you only want to have it on for longer weekend road trips. Sucks about the rest of your story.
By the time you get home from spending a weekend at the Jersey shore you probably would have spent enough to buy a nice set of rims and tires for your car. The prices have gotten out of whack to vacation here at the Jersey shore.

Try a North Carolina beach next time. You can't beat southern hospitality. Just remember to relax, take a deep breath, and park your yankee attitude at the Mason-Dixon line.
Yeah, believe it or not, you know how the ordinary every-day attitude of those Jersey folks looks like "aggressive a$$hole" to you? That's how the ordinary every-day attitude of Pennsylvania folks looks to us. Jersey folks down here are generally just stunned silent by the relative peace and quiet.
I hope the rest of your weekend goes better.

I'm sorry for your trouble, but that's what you get for going to New Jersey!

I think you are stressing out waaay too much.
My take on this is that I try to keep my Z in a pristine condition to the best of my abilities but at the end of the day its still just a car. I bought it to enjoy, not to make my life more stressfull. I consider stone chips, stolen caps, and nasty gas attendants just normal wear and tear - nothing to get all bent out of shape about. Now, a keyed car.....that would **** me off :

But DmitryZ is right, things happen and you just gotta take life as it is and dont let things get to you.
LOL, and tai chi is fantastic for anger management. I meditate and shiat and that really helps when i get pissed off.

I met a person from NJ who didn't know how to put gas into a car, I thought it was the oddest thing.....a grown man who has never gased his own car....but I guess that isn't so odd if you lived in NJ all your life.
BTW...sorry to hear about the crappy start to your weekend.

I agree! I gave up on Jersey beaches a long time ago. Too crowded and too expensive. I've rented a house in the Outer Banks, NC for the last five years.

the parents have a house in Avalon which is why i'm there alot. if i was looking for a getaway vacation no doubt the outer banks would be high on my list. i used to live in raleigh and hung out there on the weekends all the time until they banned jet skis (yeah i was one of those guys
