This all started with the age old tire feathering problem. But, this isn’t the main story…
The road noise due to the tire feathering problem became unbearable. So, I decided to bring the Z in for service. Along with the tires, my power window was giving me some problems. Upon using the auto-up function on the window, the window would raise and then go down half way. It wouldn’t stay up unless you held the up switch up for several seconds.
Of course I was told I had to leave the car. The next day I was told I had good news and bad news.
The “good” news was that they had fixed my power window. Big freakin’ deal! The “bad” news… the service department did not have the proper machine to manage the 18” wheels!!!
At this point I was getting a little miffed but I remained cooperative. So, I asked, what is going to happen? You are just not going to fix problem and let it get worse??? I asked, with prodding, if they could get a third party involved. The Service Manager called around and was not able to find another dealership that had the correct equipment!!! So, I pushed harder. I told them they had to fix it and it could not be allowed to get worse. I asked if they could get an outside shop to do it. After several phone calls they found a shop to do ONLY the alignment.
Note: Alignment machines work independent of wheel size. The instruments attach to the lip of the rim.
With the alignment done I went on my merry little way. Problem solved??? Hell NO! The road noise was only slightly less than before. Still very loud.
This is where the fun starts. As I am getting in the Z and shutting the door I notice that the plastic piece which holds the window controls is loose. It nearly popped out when I closed the door!
The service technician “forgot” to replace the ONE AND ONLY screw holding it down. Talk about lame! So, I call the service department, talk to my service rep, and told them the deal. Of course I have to bring the Z in AGAIN. When I get there my service manager wants my keys. I am like WTF for??? I told her the technician obviously couldn’t put the screw back the first time so why would he get it right now???
The service manager called the technician out to bring me the screw. Let me tell you, this technician looked about 18 years old and like he hated his job!!! He obviously did not care a single bit for his work.
Oh, this gets better…
This weekend I was bathing my Z. I am fairly meticulous about my vehicle and regularly wash the rims and tires. So, I am washing the rims and what jumps out at me???
THE TIRES WERE SWAPPED LEFT TO RIGHT AGAINST THE ROTATION!!!!
I dropped everything and called the service department and began to chew the person on the phone a new rear.
He looked up my record and came back with; “Oh, it says here that we couldn’t take the tires off and did nothing.”
Mind you, I watched the guy do the alignment at the third party tire shop – he did not remove the wheels at any time.
Then the service manager says; “So, I guess what your saying is that the only time the wheels could have been swapped was when it was here, huh?” What a joke! Then he makes an “offer” for me to go and have the wheels flipped back and they will pay for it. All I can say is; too little, too late. I had already gone several hundred miles on the tires since they were swapped. They can’t be the same.
Let me tell you what really happened…
Mistake #1, the technician took the wheels off the Z without even knowing whether their machine could handle the 18” rims. You think they would know this already!!!
Mistake #2, not understanding the TSB, which I kindly provided, they either figured they would just flip the wheels OR they just didn’t give a crap and put them on backwards.
Any moron with a wrench knows that high performance tires are DIRECTIONAL!
Premier Nissan of Metairie does not have a clue about the cars they sell or service!!! They hire “mechanics” with the IQ of my wheel offset! They don’t care about their work nor do they understand a simple service bulletin.
AVOID THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT – like you would avoid underbody neon!

Nissan just sent me a 6 month Nissan Service Survey, asking about my Nissan Dealer service. I do it all myself, so I didn't have much to say. All I said was that I didn't trust the dealer to care about my car, and that I usually know more about the Z than the Nissan techs. You however , can ream Premier Nissan up the you know what when you get your survey.
Hi guys,
I ran into InsaneAmine in the lounge of the service bay today. We chatted. I have a similar problem, and in additon my drivers' side window stopped working.
So what did Premier do? Well, in addition to never calling me to tell me the part was in (two weeks passed and I finally went in today) they ordered the wrong part! so I now have to wait another week. Great.

Hey man, I haven't heard much from ya! I heard someone with NOS on their 350 (Chrome Silver) wrecked it. I thought it might have been you because a salesman at the dealership mentioned it and I remember you as having a couple of mods on your car when you stopped by =\
I have also heard from a reliable source that there is a turbo'd SuperBlack Z in town, but don't know where. Know anything about it?

HOLYSH*T! I started a topic about that Z in the racing forums
I saw him on that overpass with a towtruck and a cop behind him, at like a 45 degree angle straight into the freaking wall. I don't think that was the guy with the NOS though, the folks at the dealer said he had a CS Z as well.
