What's you registration renewal cost??

Damn, I am in CA, and I just got my renewal. $669 for a Touring 6 spd......

Why is it so expensive????:icon6: :icon6: :icon11: :icon28:

There goes my sways and CF lip.....:(

cckleung Aug 11, 2003 11:14 AM

That's about right, the fee is 2% of your car's blue book value

zwindsor Aug 11, 2003 11:15 AM

It's another one of Davis's "screw you's". Fees were tripled to help pay for his $38 Billion deficit. Mine's $674 and includes the personalized plate charge.

Moodie Aug 11, 2003 11:41 AM

I was shooked....

Caused I just checked with my uncle who got his 2002 S2000 brand new in august of last year....2 months before me, and his renewal is only $200+. What the hell???

wren57 Aug 11, 2003 11:45 AM

holy crap, 669... mine is like 124 in TN and I thought that was stupidly expensive for a sticker...

whatever Aug 11, 2003 12:40 PM

I think the 3x starts after 10/01/03. So any car that need renewal after that date it's about 2% of the blue book or ~3x for us new car owners... :icon11:

Hope GD get recall soon so Arnold can drop this stupid fee. I'm sure he has more then enough vehicles that he doesn't want to pay the 2% blue book... imagine 2% blue book for a Hummer H1.... ~$100,000k+ x 2% = ~$2000+ for registration...

with both registration renewal and insurance renewal coming up, there goes my new wheels... I guess I'll have to stay stock for a while....

2003z Aug 11, 2003 02:42 PM

Georgia Registration, just got hit up for all 3 at once:
2002 S-10 162.46
2003 350Z 373.26
2003 G35c 409.91 (and it stickered for 500 less than the Z!)

Moodie Aug 11, 2003 02:47 PM

Damn CA rates.......

That reminds me, Insurance is coming as well...there goes my money for the exhaust... which looks like it's gonna be a Christmas upgrade now.....:( Hope the Greddy exhuast will be out by then so I can have more choices to choose for an exhaust.....:D

j's350z Aug 11, 2003 06:27 PM

Holy Sh-t!!

wow that sucks... Just got my New Jersey renewal, $56.00
but we still have the highest insurance in the country....

happypants Aug 11, 2003 11:00 PM

$78 in IL, a little more if you have a vanity plate

glad our state only has a $4 billion deficit! :)

Moodie Aug 12, 2003 08:10 AM

Damn...less than $100 bucks????

No wonder more people are moving out of CA.

Alang Aug 12, 2003 11:33 AM

Grey Davis did not raise the registration to help pay for the defecit. When the rates were rolled back there was a clause in the legislation that returned the rate to THEIR ORIGINAL amounts if the state suffered from a deficit. If you look at registration paperwork (prior to when the rates returned to normal), it states right on it that there is a fee rebate (or some such wording). The fact that Davis is being blamed for "raising" the registration fees is simply his opponents trying to blame him for as much as they can to fuel the recall election.

zwindsor Aug 12, 2003 12:08 PM

But the fact that he did implement the increase instead of cutting wasteful government spending is what bothers me. He took the easy road and screwed the public again instead of cutting costs.

kbsig106 Aug 12, 2003 12:21 PM

WOW - Glad I live in FLA....

My tag renewal is $35.58.

What a deal!!!

Mine's due in October and I'm guessing it'll be about $500

DaChoZn1 Aug 13, 2003 02:33 PM

I got mine today. I thought $72. was a lot. After seeing what some of you guys are paying I guess it could be worse.

CLS Aug 14, 2003 05:51 AM

South Carolina $535. There go the mods for a little while. Well, maybe not. Maybe just one more little one.

Vlad Aug 14, 2003 07:01 AM

Around $150 for my Z in Michigan. And I thought that was ridiculously expensive...

Around $110 for 98' ML320

Vlad Aug 14, 2003 07:02 AM

Why would somebody want to go live in California? Because it's warm in the winter?...

Mikestro Aug 14, 2003 07:44 AM

1 out of 8 people live in CA, there must be a reason ;)

35M(CA)/300M(US)=11.6% of US population in CA.
