Default Factory Aero Kit

Hey,

I know what the back spoiler looks like, I just can't tell any difference between a Z with the front lip part of the factory aero kit and one without it...what does it look like? Any pictures? Is it worth the cash?

Thanks,
SquadElite

Its basically a little lip that extends a 1/4 inch (if even that) from the front lip. Its a little black piece that isnt noticeable at all unless you are really looking for it. I was also debating whether or not to pay the 500+ bucks for the aero package, but trust me, if you are not going after an aftermarket look, get the aero package cause at least the factory installed the rear spoiler. If you get the OEM spoiler and have it installed after you buy the car, so many things can go wrong. Like the paint could be a little off, the install could be a little off, etc... Therefore, spring for the aero package cause I personally like the look on the spoiler. The car without the spoiler looks kinda raw, and the aftermarket spoilers stick out too much.

Actually, I believe you can order the factory spoiler prepainted.

If I got the factory spoiler painted...for my silverstone and had it installed at the dealership, and made sure they did a good job, its worth it right?

They said they cannot install the front lip, if your telling me its a quarter of an inch and hardly visable, then I don't need that anyways...

Thanks,

A ten year old should be able to install the front lip. You take out something like 8 bolts and slide it in, then put the 8 bolts back on. Then attach some plastic clip things. That's it. No drilling or anything.

I got the factory rear spoiler and front chin spoiler installed by the dealership a week after I got the car. The rear spoiler came pre-painted to match my Brickyard Z. The chin spoiler is just a black plastic fairing that extends about 1/4" to 1/2" below the front bumper.

Purchasing it and installing it after the fact cost me less than having it installed at the factory. Total cost for parts and labor came to about $180. They even came out to my office to do the install. Factory install would have been over $500. It took them about an hour to do the job. The front spoiler just attaches with a few screws. The installer didn't use the bolts to attach the rear spoiler. The installer said that he used 3M automotive tape to attach it with out drilling any holes. The installer assured me that the tape will be just as strong.

I was debating if I should put the aero kit on the car. I'm glad I did. I think the car looks better with the aero kit. Even though the chin spoiler is hard to see, it does give the Z a more aggressive look. Didn't really notice it until it was on.

??? Cost less than $180?? The parts alone at any of the vendors are at least $450. Did you get it for free? The install alone takes a couple of hours.

I got my Nissan OEM pre painted spoiler off ebay for $130 shipped. I got my front chin lip off someone (free) who installed the Veilside front bumper. I installed both myself.

When I was shopping for my Z, another dealership had called me on my phone at the same time I was talking to the dealer that sold me my Z and he initially offered me the same Z with the aero kit at a lower price than the dealer I was talking to. Not to be out done on the spot, the current dealer right away offered me my Z at $1000 over invoice and told me if I wanted the Aero Package he would throw it in for $100 Kit + $80 Labor. The install was fast because they didn't drill any holes for the rear spoiler they attached it with 3M automotive body tape and the front chin spoiler is just a few screws. I turned in another Nissan lease at the same time. They probably got a pretty good deal buying that lease return from the factory because it was in excellent shape. The lease buyout price was less than the current market value. They had to make up the loss somewhere. It was also the end of the month, maybe they had some type of sales goal to beat or quota to meet.

Default Size of front spoiler lip

Actually the lip is about 7/8". I installed one on mine and it was easy and it took about 10 minutes.

It's not expensive and I figure it's worth it. Nissan doesn't put it on the Track for no reason—certainly not just for show as it is hard to see.

There is more to the OEM Aero pkg than the front nose & rear spoiler. There are under body pieces as well.

The rear underbody diffusers come stock on the Track only. You can however buy them as parts from your dealer.

The optional aero package is a front chin spoiler and rear spoiler only.

Just curious, but if they do that little, why did Nissan bother to engineer and produce them? Seems to me .01% is absolutely worthless.

then why bother with spoilers on the back of cars at all... wont really make much difference unless your at 180+ MPH...

i think its more of a "standard" to have some types of underbody diffusers on a car tat will be on the track...

the Z's aero dynamics are extremly well thought out and designed... the only thing i would change about it would be the ride hight (1 inch lower) and that the front nose be more rounded... i think that would create less of a flatt surface being pushed against oncoming air... ther is one body kit thats nose slooops down like id like to see... to help channel air over the body more smoothly...

but you can put the z at 100MPH and then put it in Neutral and slooooooooly loose speed... it cuts threw the air...
