Default Question on the 350z warrAnty?

The story is that I might get a 350z when my parents get back from Italy. The first mods I'm going to do is to get a CAI. Since i'm new to car engine, I heard that the intake sucks up water if there is a flood of some sort. Living in Miami and especially my neighbor hood (lakes of the meadows) gets flooded easily and Miami in the summer is like the raining season in Africa!

If i install a CAI and water gets into my engine i know it would screw it up but would the warranty cover it. From what company CAI or Nissan!!

As a side note are the 350z 03' selling a little cheaper due to the arrival of the 2004!!??

If your aftermarket modification is a direct cause of the problem, your warranty would not cover it. The maker of the CAI would not cover it either. They could not be held liable. And as far as I know 03's arent being any cheaper. At least not here in Austin. I was at a local dealer today and they had one 03 left and were not getting anymore. The one they did have left was not discounted either. My recommendation is to order one so you can get one that hasnt been driven at all. That would be nice wouldnt it?

a light drizzle would be fine with a CAI....

but any more would be bad news... specially going threw a standing puddle at high speed...

im not going to put any additional intake on my z..

Plenum / headers / test pipe / exaust and im more then happy... intake on the z with our sensors are bad news... one drop of oil from that filter and they are fried...

Definitely not! Nissan will say something on the lines of "with the stock air box, the engine is protected. With the CAI, you exposed the engine to probably damage which includes water exposure." I went through something like this with AAA Mechanical Breakdown coverage insurance... they denied my claims because of the CAI on my old Civ and trust me, I tried everything possible.

It would probably be recommended from a personal POV, although I don't think it is necessary unless you plan on making an engine warranty claim... but then again, they might remember (and keep a note) that you ran a CAI when you last got serviced...

I used to do this every time before a smog check (for the visual check in CA)...

Cover for what? Water ingestion to the engine? You'll need to read the fine print on your "mechanical breakdown coverage" insurance plan, if you are additionally paying for one. In most cases, acts of God are not covered (as noted)...

In short, don't bet on it. And if they do it for you, consider yourself a lottery winner.
