Thinkin bout selling my powerlab 350z for an Evo
meh....take all the stuff out, part out everything, then trade in the car at the dealer or carmax. If it is as good as you make it sound, you might get good value for it for trade in!
The whole industry is in the can....they will do anything for a sale...that goes for EVERY SINGLE maker but the supercar manufacturers
That Haltech is a small mint in and of itself...you could probably get some good gink for that!

I checked KBB and my car is only worth 16k. I have a friend who wants it for 15.5 right now..stock. So I need to sell the turbo kit, injectors, and ECU.
haha yeah I know. My neigbors got a black 04 Z06 with 13k that he will let go for 25k. I have a **** load of parts(heads/cam) that I can put in the car since my RX7 has an 04 Z06 motor fully built.
Had a WRX for a while. Granted it's not an STi, but I'm early 20's and even I felt like an immature boy racer in that car. Too much cop attention, got really tired of boost lag and only really used the AWD half of a month out of the year. (Willamette Valley in Oregon). Like a few guys said before, if you're a project car kinda guy and you've ran out of stuff to do to the Z I would try to find a car that's not a downgrade as far as the sports car feel of the vehicle. Just my .02

1. You have never own and Evo, or an STi. The Evo is one of the best handling car under the 60k price bracket.
2. Define sports car feel. If you are referring to a RWD feel then that's not it. Yes the RWD feeling is fun but what defines a "sports" car has everything to do with handling. An Evo is no where near a downgrade, especially the 9 and not even if he switched to an 8. It outhandles a Z completely, stock for stock it will kill a Z on any street or track course, and for the same amount of money spent on mods on both cars the Z will not catch up to an Evo, period.
Funny you say that because

Performance wise, stock for stock there's no doubt that the Rally cars will outdo the z.
I agree that the mods for the z are relatively expensive. No one ever said that the z was a cheap car to mod.
"Sports car feel"....maybe he meant the total package including: Looks, cabin atmosphere & ergonomics, and overall performance. I have a friend that owns an Sti. That car would flat out beat my z in any form of racing. But once you sit inside, it's essentially a four door sedan. It "feels" no different from sitting in corolla or a civic sedan. The ceiling is high, the shifter is way low, the widows are set low. From the outside: You have to agree that the z can't be mistaken for a suped up family car. Hell, my z had been mistaken for a porsche several times. The car's lines are aerodynamic and visually pleasing. Take a nismo 350z for example. Strip all the aero down to a base model z. It's still looks like a sports car. Now try doing that to a Sti or an Evo.
You can't really compare a Z with an Evo or Sti. They are in two completely different classes. Awd vs. Rwd, N/A vs. F/I, etc.

Had an '06 Evo IX MR. Apex Silver. Sold it after 6 months of ownership. Loved it but had to part with it for non-related reasons. Now that i have my Z, call me crazy but for some reason i enjoy it more vs. my Evo. Not sure why, don't ask.
Two things to watch out for: Fuel economy (i could swear some times i could see my fuel gauge needle move as i was driving) and Tire wear. MR stock wheels and tires in my view are the best match. Tires lasted about 10k miles. Factory put the damned balance weights right on the lip of the tires and taking them off left marks on the wheels which as it turns out had a very think coat of paint.

Although I'm new here, I can't help but comment…. It sounds like he's really set on the Evo platform. I remember a months ago I was the same way with me situation. I had a Turbo Scion tC (paid off) and an Altima coupe 3.5SE. Both cars were plenty quick, the altima had a great fit and finish feel. Always wanted a Z since the moment I had the money to anything to a car. Couldn't resist the urge, ditched both cars, picked up a mint 2004 350Z and a decent beater for the winters here in Wisconsin.
I can honestly respect you wanting to get something different if AWD ralley is what you're after, heck you might even like the Evo styling more…. If you're throwing around money and investments so casually though, I'd have to stick to the notion of saving for a GT-R. Granted it's crazy expensive but let's not leave out what you have into the Z and then what you could put into the Evo, not even mentioning the cost of the cars themselves.
I've been after the Z for so long I can't possibly imagine jumping ship after I turbocharge and build the thing up. Two totally different worlds, it's not fair to argue one or the other.
